The transmitter in the Vulcan
sanctuary uses a krellide storage cell.
"Singularity" - a 17 minute trip
out-system involves a 2 million kilometer pass of a black hole. A
naturally occurring "stellar"
black hole typically has a mass between 4 and 15 times that of the sun.
A path beginning 2 million kilometers from a black hole and ending a
far distance away (e.g., a half light year)
represents an average rate of change in gravitational potential of
roughly a gigawatt per kilogram of ship. Estimating the ship to be in
the general neighborhood of 200,000-1,000,000 metric tons, considering
the energy expenditures averaging a tenth the total normal warp power
expenditures involved in leaving a trinary system of blue giants, and
assuming that the Enterprise
operated at no less than full power, we may conclude that the Enterprise's warp core redlines at
approximately ~1 exawatt.
At least one prototype for the Xindi planet-destroyer was run off of a
fusion reactor.
