The vast and mighty armada of the Empire descends upon Hoth. It consists of an enormous Executor and a half dozen Imperial Star Destroyers with their respective complements of dropships, shuttles, TIE fighters, and TIE bombers. In the novelization of the movie, it is made perfectly clear that this is an impressive and imposing fleet. This may be in part due to the presence of the Executor, which easily outmasses the rest of the ships seen in this movie, but it seems reasonable to conclude that any deployment of twenty or more capital ships is an unusual concentration of force by the Empire in this era.
