No, I remember him suggesting that E-D can literally melt/"vaporize" entire Death Star with phasers. High megaton / low gigaton phasers are not exactly a stretch, compared with that.I don't think calling his opinion gibberish just because you disagree you know. At least he doesn't suggest gigaton level phasers as the average.

Well, whether or not you believe phasers use that much energy as a DET component, we do have evidence in several TOS, TNG, and DS9 episodes of effects on the gigaton scale.

Yes I know. Although firepower does tend to dance around in DS9 and Voyager all way down to sub-kiloton (Voyager had firefight in the atmosphere once).
