Hey, does the inside of the Narada -being even deadlier than the worst level of Super Mario you could imagine- make sense to you?
Now, son, you should know that handrails are expensive, and I'm pretty sure that based on how complicated Death Star blueprints looked like, adding handrails would require changing entire sections of the battle station. Can you imagine the cost of this "mere" addition? Can you begin to imagine how bad it would make costs skyrocket?? To say nothing of the time the battle station would be rendered unavailable!

We don't know what the Narada was really like before the ramming, and we don't know why it was like that.Mr. Oragahn wrote:Hey, does the inside of the Narada -being even deadlier than the worst level of Super Mario you could imagine- make sense to you?

I think the abundance of "bottomless pits without railings" would qualify nicely.Picard wrote:http://darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0128.html

As for exploding consoles, there's simply no reason for them to be designed to carry any amount of power; just make them wireless for fuck's sake!
If there's a thunderstorm, I just unplug my laptop and work on wireless and battery; I don't worry about it exploding from lighting hitting the powerlines or cable.

That's a cute idea, but it doesn't work out, especially if the wireless system is destroyed or interfered with in some manner during combat or other situation that puts the ship's systems through high stress.

The consoles are rarely what actually explodes as I recall.

If the wireless system explodes, I think that you do have some problem on the bridge.Mike DiCenso wrote:That's a cute idea, but it doesn't work out, especially if the wireless system is destroyed or interfered with in some manner during combat or other situation that puts the ship's systems through high stress.

Besides, a mere USB cable would do, then. It's just a console, not a power converter, for crissake!

But is it the consoles actually exploding, or something near them?Mr. Oragahn wrote:If the wireless system explodes, I think that you do have some problem on the bridge.Mike DiCenso wrote:That's a cute idea, but it doesn't work out, especially if the wireless system is destroyed or interfered with in some manner during combat or other situation that puts the ship's systems through high stress.

Some times, it is definetly consoles. But other times, you have power relays going off all over the ship.

You also have relays going behind the consoles.Picard wrote:Some times, it is definetly consoles. But other times, you have power relays going off all over the ship.

Whatever, use circuit-breakers. It's just a dumb false dichotomy to say there's a catch-22 choice between exploding-consoles and system-failure.Mike DiCenso wrote:That's a cute idea, but it doesn't work out, especially if the wireless system is destroyed or interfered with in some manner during combat or other situation that puts the ship's systems through high stress.
