Anything goes, star trek vs star wars.

Post by User1442 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:03 pm

Ok, so this is pretty much the regular star trek vs star wars. The federation goes to war with the empire. Only all EU is also acceptable for both sides. This includes star treks novels and technical guides. If anything contradicts between a book and movie, then the higher cannon wins. If its between a book and another book, and their both same level cannon, then the more logical one wins. All statements must have a qoute/refrance.

Let the battle begin!

ST wins, if EVERYTHING for both sides is allowed. One of the novels mentions that planet-cracker bombs, which contain enough antimatter to blow up a planet, are only uncommon for the UFP to use (TNG Novel: "Intellivore"). Another one has the USS da Vinci being able to cloak a planet (ST: Destiny Novel: "Lost Souls"). 12th level power fields, capable of stopping Type-G main-sequence stars from rotating, have moderately ill effects on starships. (TMP novelization).

What do you have against star wars!? There is some seriously wank shit in the star trek EU. The fight lasts all of yesterday. It was over, literally, before it started.

And that's PRESUMING maximum ICS yields, and most wankified force user abilities.

V'Ger's power field being twelfth power is more interesting for the implications of starship power generation more than anything else. Given that stopping the Sun from rotating would require anywhere from 2.14×10^29 J to 1.4 x10^36 J given it has a rotational velocity at the equator of 7.189×103 km/h. Decker says in the movie that "thousands of starships" could not generate that much power, but there's nothing that necessarily precludes 10,000 or or more from doing so. Thus 23rd century starships could easily have anywhere from 2.14e25 watts to 1.4 x 10^32 watts being pumped out by their warp cores! ICS eat your heart out!

I'm having a hard time buying the Empire handling the Feds and their allies alone...from the tv show

you toss the insanity of the novels in there...and it's carnage unceasing

And in ANH, Han Solo stated that "It would take a thousand ships with nmore firepower than..." to destroy Alderan.
No one but die hard Warsies take this quote seriously, we all agree it was hyperbole.
I'm pretty sure Decker's was too... :)

Star Wars win. The Empire has more assorted superweapons lying around, and Clone!Palpatine has serious scary Force powers (Force Storm (wormhole)). the only vessel that they would need to send in to Federation territory would be the Sun Crusher, which can't be destroyed and can BLOW UP SUNS. Large fleet groups and planets would be obliterated by the Galaxy Gun, firing from the safety of well within SW territory, guarded by a massive fleet. they could also send in some World Devastators, which destroy AND make war materiel. And last but not least, the MCPS enables any ship with a metal hull to one-shotted.

True that, although if we give ST novels a go, ST also has transphasic armor and Torpedoes, and I'm sure a multitude of super weapons...
But it is true the EU super weapon wankfest is seriously hurting ST...

You even forgot the torpedo spheres, the newer Death Stars (yeah, that's right, iirc, there were up to 3 or 4 at one point)...

There were only 3 DS's. the prototype around the Maw Installation, the DS I (killed at Yavin), and the DS II (killed at Endor.) Are you thinking about the Darksaber or the Tarkin? both had the power of a Death Star main gun, or at least in theory, regarding Darksaber.

Ah, I had read somewhere about 3 DSs, and I thought they were mentioned as being made after the movies in the EU...
I must have been mistaken then...

Actually, I'm excluding the torp spheres, due to the fact that they are a counter for a threat that ST doesnt' have: planetary shields. Torp Spheres are designed to pound a shield sector with Cap Ship torpedoes until it fails, then use percision TL blasts to annihilate the generator.

Which is false.
ST has planetary shields, as of TOS "Whom Gods Destroy", Soran's smaller shield in ST :GEN, Ty'Gykor's shielded command center in DS9, and other examples...
They are in fact similar to TESB's Hoth shield, or the Geonosian shield in TCW when the Republic tries to destroy the droid factory...

Uh, guys, remember that higher canon still wins if there's a contradiction. Most of Star Trek EU's uber feats are contradicted by the TV shows and movies (which presumably are higher than the books, which aren't even supposed to be canon), which confirm that Star Trek ships get harmed by the amount of energy I would expend from walking up a staircase xd.
