If you are talking about WYLB battleship (one 5 km in length) it is not canon. Just like DS9 does not change size from episode to episode. There is only one battleship, and it is 1.5 kilometers in length. And if we take monster ship as canon, then SSD is cooked and baked.

Really?

The Executor has over 5000 turbolaser batteries and a superlaser that can crack a planet.

No, that's the Eclipse. Congratulations on getting your SSDs mixed up.

And got destroyed by A-wings before any other ships had a chance to fire on it. ^_^

Actually, "other ships" (Rebel cruisers) dropped its bridge shields before A-Wing slammed into it. But given power of SW weapons... Dominion super-battleship is overkill.

Actually no, only two other A-wings fired on the Executor during that scene. After Ackbar's order to concentrate all fire on that Super Star Destroyer, we only see the two A-wings make an attack run on the shield generator. Once it explodes, we see the ship shake and hear the officer yell, "Sir, we've lost our bridge deflector shields!" When Piett gives the order to increase forward firepower, we see no rebel ships (cruisers or higher at least) attacking the Executor at all, despite the loss of its bridge deflector shields. That's when the semi out of control A-Wing crashes into the bridge and disables the ship so it crashes into the DSII.

No, I think it's fair to say the WYLB 5 km battleship is canon. It is onscreen, for one thing, and there are a couple scenes in the earlier battles indicating that it is there. So if you insist on picking one or the other, then we only ever really saw the 1.5 km battleship the one time in "Valiant", so I'm more inclined to accept the larger scaling as proper.

As for DS9 changing sizes, or anything else in Trek or Wars. You pick the most common showing or go with the average, which is why the commonly accepted size for DS9 is between 1.4 and 1.6 km, not the the original backstage design of 1,097 m.

Yeah, so? We know now that the superlasers don't do their work through straight up direct energy transfer. How that would effect ST ships, which we have seen withstand the Doomsday Machine's cutting beam that can slice chunks out of a planet several times, even unshielded is anyone's guess. And remember that a lone, though very large mining ship from the late 24th century was easily capable of defeating mid-23rd century main line capships.

I doubt that a super laser shot would actually hit a trek ship seeing as far as ship vs ship strikes we've seen in primary canon any ways..it was always against slow moving mon cal vessels

Where is it even implied that anything, but A-wings had time to shoot at the SSD before it went out of control, and hit the DS-II? The Rebel ships would have logically kept firing even after it went out of control if only just to be sure.

It's not like fighter scale craft have not been expected to take down an SSD type craft on their own in a similar manner.

Well, the SSD had been in the battle since the beginning, and while Ackbar says "Concentrate all fire on that SSD", it doesn't mean that the SSD had not been fired upon for most of the battle, since it was the biggest target, and was probably doing a lot of damage.
Ackbar's comment only means that everyone should be firing all guns on the SSD, so the ships that were targetting an ISD, for example, should now target only the SSD, and join the ships that were already shooting at it...

Proof, NOW or I report you to Praeothmin. You won't like what Praeothmin will do to you. I don't recall a single ship firing on the SSD until the A-wings start attacking, and then no other ships are shown to be attacking the SSD.

Well, we do see ships firing in the distance, and bolts flying pretty much everywhere.
And if we assume that only the bolts we see are actualyl fired, than most ships exploded for no reason, or were destroyed by single bolts, or flying space dust... :)

Well I figure some ships on the Imperial side blew up because someone got the bright idea to turn their own weapons to 100%, and tried to shoot them.^_^

Seriously

I was under the impression the the SSD was off by it's self being mostly ignored until the order was given to focus on it, and then the A-wings got there first, and got lucky you could say before any other ships got into range. We see stuff like that all the time done to smaller capital ships in SW:TCW.
