Answer yes or no, please. This is not a thread for rants, arguments, derailments or long explanations, pro or con. Also, there is no "other" option in the poll: if you don't care or don't know, you have no vote.

ICS: Good Representation of the SW Universe?
This thread has already been made on both SB, and SDN, so I thought it fitting to recreate it here as well, even though the end result is undoubtely obvious. I quote now from the original thread on SB:

Well, this should be clarified.
Someone brought up a valid point, IMO, in the SB thread:
It is very representative of what the SW universe looks like, and contains interesting bits of info on how things work, but the only real place where it clearly does not represent a valid SW example is in the Firepower figures.
So, does the question relate only to the Firepower figures, or the entire book?
Because my vote will change dpending on the answer...

Re: ICS: Good Representation of the SW Universe?
Just out of curiosity since we know the results from the SB poll what are do tell the results at SDN: the house and temple of the cult of Wong?l33telboi wrote:This thread has already been made on both SB, and SDN, so I thought it fitting to recreate it here as well, even though the end result is undoubtely obvious. Strictly speaking, we cannot even confirm that, for the simple fact that it could all be rejected as "false" with a single word from George Lucas, though he would probably find it in his best interest not to in order to keep up ICS sales. But that's not to mean that TCW could contradict this as well.Praeothmin wrote: It is very representative of what the SW universe looks like, and contains interesting bits of info on how things work
Either way I think it would be interesting to know what the total responses from SDN and SBC are so far.
And as an aside, perhaps this thread is best suited to the Other Sites board.

The intent behind the SB thread was clearly the question on whether Saxton's figures were correct, not the artwork.Praeothmin wrote:So, does the question relate only to the Firepower figures, or the entire book?
Oh and the SDN poll, for those who can't see it, is currently 13 for yes and 3 for no. SB is 21 for yes and 102 for no.
Y'know, if nothing else, this is extremely interesting in regards to how many people take an active interest in this. I had no idea there would be over a hundred votes in the SB thread, for instance, and that SDN wouldn't rack in more then 20 votes even though the threads been there quite some time already.

The fact that so very few poplw are participating at SDN is a mirror of ther brutally enforced dictatorial cult of Wong policies. Who in his or her right mind would vote in such a poll there knowing full well the Wong Secret police will behind their arses in a split second. Anybody that votes against the ICS there has a guaranteed BAN from the place.l33telboi wrote:The intent behind the SB thread was clearly the question on whether Saxton's figures were correct, not the artwork.Praeothmin wrote:So, does the question relate only to the Firepower figures, or the entire book?

Because to say no to ICS is heresy in SDN is an affront to them and they will never, ever tolerate such dissent. At best they will be blacklisted at worst they will be immediately banned.Mike DiCenso wrote:I doubt that. It might be possible for the mods and admin of SDN to trace back the no-voters by their ISPs. But why?

Considering that we obviously understand the implicit interest in versus debates, and that we're talking about the issues which have caused a lot of stir, the only answer I can come with is, unfortunately, no.
Nice drawing, a nice source of info before, but not anymore, notably because it requires time and efforts to filter the flawed data put in there to indulge fanboys, and the real data that is intended to fit with the vast bulk of the EU and what the movies have presented.
I'd also add the ITW, for the same reasons.
Now, if this is not clear enough, I can still post an explicit picture.

You've been on this board for quite some time Pra', I'm surprised you think the issue is limited to just one point.Praeothmin wrote:Well, this should be clarified.

Without checking who said this, it's certainly a superficial understanding of the whole set of claims made by Saxton, through the ICS.
It's not just the firepower, that would be way too easy.
From the top of my head, you can also count:
- mechanism of turbolasers.
- half veiled attempts at placing information that supports the idea that the superlaser is just a big turbolaser.
- the power generation levels.
- the power production technology (hypermatter annihilation to make things more advanced, yet the EU has been going on for more than decade on the basis that fusion was used).
- of course the nature of the fuel used as well.
- armour composition.
- mechanism of energy dispersion in armour.
- weapon ranges.
- mechanism of sensors regarding shields.
- mechanism of shields (debunked a good many times here).
- shielding capacity.
- claim of unpowered antigrav floatation despite proven wrong in AOTC.
- unconvincing naval nomenclature.
- accelerations figures/
- likely partially inaccurate hyperspace speeds.
- etc.

:) I was going to post it over there precisely, but was putting the final touch to something else, and then saw l33telboi's thread.ILikeDeathNote wrote:And as an aside, perhaps this thread is best suited to the Other Sites board.
It clearly appears to be a multiboard probing though.
I wonder if it would be useful to have one at TFN and SW.com...
