Invisible Hand ablaze: Foam used to kill fires!
Another aspect which doesn't work well with the gradient and volumetric shielding theory espoused by generally ICS defending warsies.
It argues that the shield in question, which obviously can let missiles, droids and ships fly close to each other, can stop bolts at various ranges from the shielded craft, such that energy into capacitors, and fire it back as neutrinos via neutrino radiators.
Why the heck didn't they use that tech to quickly kill the fires, when it's said to be able to suck dry energies which can supposedly come as close as tens of megatons (for example in the case of a ship with a tonnage corresponding to that of the Millenium Falcon and its shields taking tens of megatons)?
It would be the most obvious use of such a technology to literally suck/vacuum out the energy of any fire spreading in or on a structure, in a flash instant.
Why do they use something as primitive as foam cannons then?

This defense would fail on all points.
First, because foam would have no superiority there, as it would be coating the exterior of the ship.
Secondly, if the volumetric shields existed, then they'd show no problem to penetrate matter. In general, the shield systems cast their fields from a few limited sources, not from the entire hull. Basically, fields have to go through very the ships they protects at some point, especially with the radiating system such as the neutrino system from Saxton and so on, since the hardware is partially inside.
Ships flying close to asteroids while having their shields up, in the case of the volumetric shield, would be a perfect example of such fields being harmlessly penetrated by asteroids, in and out.
Thirdly, if the question is about how it would deal with internal fires, I don't see how this would be a problem. At worst, you may need shield systems to focus on the ship's internals.
Fourth, the point is that those fire department aircrafts should have had such a system, casting their energy sucking shield onto the hull of the IH.
It's, after all, the way it works.
Now there's another point.
Consider starfighters flying through the clouds of debris and flames.
Have you seen that TIE being destroyed by Wedge? He flies his ship through such a cloud.
Do we see the cloud suddenly loosing its energy, thefore immediately extinguished, as it's being passed through by a volumetric shield that drains kilotons of energy?
No.

Another similar example is when Luke underestimates how close he is during his first attempt at a strafing run and goes flying though the fireball created by his X-wing's lasers and the exploding Death Star Systems. Even if the energy being released was enough to at least slightly exceed the X-wing's shields, we should also seen some kind of dampening effect in parts of the fireball that Luke flies through. But we don't.Mr. Oragahn wrote: Now there's another point.

Hell, the Death Star's own shields should have completely snuffed out the fireball before it even got started.

I don't know, and it's nor worth exploring when applied in such ways as they do, it's literally absurd to vacuum space around a ship over a radius of x meters. They take far more than they need, it's ridiculous.
Everytime they wank their tech, the only way they can rationalize it is by making the designers and technicians pathologically dumb to unfathomable levels. We've seen this with the shields and FTL comms, and now we see this with shields and scooping energy around a protected ship.
It's absolutely retarded.

On Naboo, they have a Queen, who is apparently an elected official.
This means that they vote for a Naboo Queen. Why is it that nobody is surprised that the Queen turns out not to be the person acting like the Queen? Those two girls don't look enough alike to pass off as each other. That means that either everyone on Naboo is so stupid as to not remember or even bother to check what their ruler for the next few years is going to look like or both the Trade Federation, the Jedi Councile, and the Senate had no idea of what the represenatives of said planet look like either.
Can anyone explain that to me?

Yeah, well this is not a question of technology and design.Mith wrote:What isn't retarded in Star Wars?Mr. Oragahn wrote:I don't know, and it's nor worth exploring when applied in such ways as they do, it's literally absurd to vacuum space around a ship over a radius of x meters. Here I'm pointing out the fact that their most prized neutrino heat sink volumetric shield eek is simply absurd, and not even used in the most obvious cases.
That alone and the fighters flying through the fireballs prove that they are wrong, that's all.

I never bought that bullshit.Mr. Oragahn wrote:Yeah, well this is not a question of technology and design.
