Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
Well to answer Simon Tarses's question how a Romulan war fleet can end up way off course in the Star Trek galaxy is frightfully easy. Start with Q thought it would be a giggle and work your way down the demi-gods to "mere" star-beasts.
The Imperial strategy meeting was neat and keeping with their high regard for life the universe over. Of course if systems keep rejecting the all but divine stewardship of the beloved Emperor for the blighted rule of Xenos they may not be able to sustain those losses as well as they think.

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
it'll be interesting to see how things go in that regards a question many aliens and humans will have to ask "what's better the immaculate rule of the great Lord Sidious his Grand Admirals and his Sith heirs?" or "the divine rule of the Founders and their doctrine of "cosmic Order"
Tarses is about to find out some answers to his own Romulan heritage and of course I'm gonna channel alien there..as in the Derelict "unknowns" we'll be finding a sleeping founder..cut off pissed off and crazy
question wanna see more imperial news services? or space battles? or both?

Outer Rim territories Tatooine orbit. Five days post the battle of Hune
The massive Super Star Destroyer divine wind was finally finished repairing the damage from the initial battle, dozens of imperial gunships and frigates moved about the vessel as well various damaged Star destroyers. Near the giant vessel a Listari disc shaped vessel sat near a long yellow vessel with a pyramid like bridge, each of the two ships were crawling with imperial technicians and many civilian conscripts who were tearing the vessel apart from the inside out stripping her secrets out from her.
Grand Admiral Thanagar stalked along the halls of his massive capital ship devouring food sent up from the surface a “gift” from Jabba the Hut, the obese Hut had made overtures to the imperial forces and for his part Thanagar understood the giant perverts value, his vast financial resources and criminal contacts presented an information network and relay system that was not on any official books and in exchange for allowing him governance over Tatooine (thus freeing up any storm troopers needed to do more than keep an eye on the bloated monster) it allowed Thanagar the time to train and equip his men for the various raids he was planning.
The Outer rims would fast become a major battleground and Thanagar would need to make sure the Dominion was softened up enough to make the coming storm easy. Leaning back into a comfortable chair h set his meal aside and looked out into deep space. Tatooine was a simple planet blackened hardened by the brutality of the ancient Infinite Empire she took those scars and made it an asset brokering no mercy nor taking any prisoners in her harsh. Dangerous environment a simple black and white philosophy the strong lived the weak adapted or perished, gender rank class or species none of that mattered all were judged equally out here.
But this world was a resource poor backwater rats nest and he needed to take his assets to a more easily defendable route, one within jumping distance of Turhain and on a route that could lead his forces into the mid rim if needed. To that end he began scanning through the histories of various different worlds and different places, locations to him were more then just blots on a star chart, he needed a living breathing history. His eyes settled on one that would be three days jump from Turhain and a week from the mid rim. It was on a trade route out of the way, rising he turned walking towards his quarters.
Upon entering he looked to find Jaxor drinking some sale sitting on his desk “heard the latest gossip?” he asked “Antarez retaking Hune?” Thanagar asked as the General rose to sit elsewhere Thanagar sat “he’s not that stupid Batch wouldn’t have some one so opposite of his personality in a position like that unless the man was no fool”
He nodded “Antarez suspects it a trap and rightly so” he said sitting down “I was able to get into a talk with Pellaeon” Jaxor remarked handing him some ale. Thanagar grinned “oh really and?” “At Endor they are building a second death star” he said “confirming what we had been expecting” Thanagar growled under his breath “oh those arrogant force using” “now, now don’t blaspheme the emperor” he said “it get’s better “ “oh?” he asked “They’re sacrificing bright Jewell and the entire sector and everything gathered there”
Thanagar fell into his chair “this isn’t good” he said calmly “this isn’t how you fight a war”
“We should look for more secure grounds” he said calmly Thanagar nodded “I found one” he said handing him a data pad “Sartinaynian?” he asked surprised “you know of it?” “Vindiz and I fought some skirmishes there in the old republic era who’s the Moff in charge?” “Vilim Disra “Jaxor nodded “I know of him keep your eyes settled on him” he said calmly “he can’t be trusted” he remarked
Thanagar rose up “Well he’ll know his place soon enough” he said firmly “I’ll be making Sartinaynian our new head quarters it’s easier to defend and it will be closer to repair and resources” he remarked.
Jaxor nodded “I’ll order all troops ready for departure sir” he said Thanagar nodded before touching his com “Captain Ezarien “he ordered to the command staff of the vessel “I want the Fleet ready to jump to Sartinaynian Braxant sector in four days” he ordered “all assets are to increase repair schedule as soon as possible strip all available assets from the enemy vessels and notify all vessels fleeing from the Mid rim battles make their way here. “
He turned off the comm. And sat down it was time to get trashed.

Intelligence fleet outer rim Five days after the battle of The Hune Sector
Captain Firontine Dorias had served in the Emperor since the clone wars, graying of hair the man had long desired to see retirement. This would be his final assignment the last in a long list of battles and missions he had over seen that would never be talked about nor read over, a career spanning nigh four decades one that had witnessed many great battles and many mundane assignments.
He walked along the command center of this huge Super Star Destroyer known as the Tarkin, its eighty seven Star Destroyers and two hundred Venators loomed over him as he eyed the scene before him. A small force designed to hit Leviathan as hard as possible cripple The Dominion and run like ships escaping a supernova. He turned eying the hideously old creatures who marched along walking half dead beside him “Captain Dorias are you ready?” he asked calmly
“To make history? My lords the fleet is ready” he said submissively the older men nodded “excellent you may jump when ready” he remarked as one of the aids pushed a button sending a transmission to The Council of Grand Admirals and to Endor.
The fleet Jumped immediately afterwards.

Andromeda Galaxy
The blue whirl of slipstream manifested in the deep dark of space, Four Excelsior class vessels exited the whirl, following them were six Defiant Class vessels and Two Ambassadors glowing in the dark abyss of the Andromeda Galaxy, then the light produced by their glow seemed stifled as a Giant shadow loomed around them, The Sarmiento exited slip space.
Simon Tarses looked around the Andromeda Galaxy from his captains chair aboard the USS Yamamoto “status” he asked “Radiation profiles showing various levels of what might have at one point been lethal for the Kelvin people but they have died down considerably, I believe sir that it would be safe for colonization” His science officer Perrin declare. Tarses nodded “a natural phenomenon?” he asked “the radiation surges that drove them to meet Captain Kirk” she shook her head “unknown at this time sir”
He nodded “I want stellar cartography working twenty four seven taking as many scans as possible dispatch a dozen probes I want a record of this Galaxy for home” he said “we are the first Federation officials to set foot here after all” he grinned “well supposedly”
They all smiled nodding “of course sir” He Rose up “scan for the sensor profiles we saw earlier” he ordered.
…..
Aboard the Sarmiento Dartanis set his coffee down as he watched The Yamamoto launch a series of probes “oh already hard at work” he remarked grinning “well then add some of our own” he said
“sir sensor sweeps confirm the location of the ruins in an asteroid field two light years away” He nodded “notify commander Serita and Commander Tarses I want them along for this “ he said ordered before making way towards the armory.
…..
Unknown regions five days post the battle of Hune
The sun began to crawl over the rotating green blue gas giant, her moons beginning to shine lightly as her blue star’s light peeked over the horizon. An other wise pretty site to behold as the same blue light began to illuminate a series of disk shaped purple stations connected by spires and vast metallic pathways to one massive construct which sat at the center of the maze of discs. Various settlements greeted the morning rise as lights powered off and shields glistened briefly in the blue stars wake. Machines began to get to work harvesting raw materials to feed the Dominion War machine as was this massive constructs duty in the name of the founders and in the name of cosmic order.
A series of vessels began to exit hyperspace hundreds of smaller craft dozens then over one hundred and twenty Venators dozens of ISD’s followed and then exited a massive mammoth of a creature.
Originally to be named The Tarkin in honor of the fallen imperial hero now renamed the vengeance of Byss the massive Eclipse class prototype loomed over the seemingly giant station all vessels began assuming a firing position their turbo lasers lurching forward.
Captain Dorias stood eying the station intently “scan ““shields have not been raised yet there is general alarm we’re reading chatter on the comms””we’re reading four hundred million residents in total on the colonies and Station sensor profiles of what we have suspected for some time to be cloning factories and training centers “
“Jam all communication and open fire” he ordered “order the entire fleet fire on the population centers fire order all ISD’s to join the Vengeance and fire on the station we end this war now” he yelled.
It seemed in that instant the dark of space turned bright green as turbo laser bolts lanced out of the giant ship and it’s fleet of doom careening towards Dominion holdings shields on the colonies began holding out straining under the assault of dozens of vessels meager defense systems opening fire out towards the imperial fleet.
From his position aboard the Vengeance Captain Dorias watched coldly as the massive giant began raining death down onto its enemies, the giant station began shaking violently explosions erupting along its metallic frame as the shields began to raise, a small Disc meant for constructing freighters and other vessels of construction seemed to break off and explode crumbling into the atmosphere. Other sections began opening fire with various poloron based disrupters and beam weapons which lanced out impacting violently against her hull while other beams began glancing across the shields.
“Status” he ordered “minor damage to our armor on the port side two medium turbo laser emplacements blown off other than that minor burns to armor across all sections...one ISD has lost ten percent of her armor on the side of her hull”
Dorias frowned “status on the colonies?” “Shields have begun to fail there are fires everywhere”
The ancients frowned eying each other calmly coldly assessing the situation “none of this makes any sense” he remarked “are those life signs pure?”
“There is no deception sir not at least on the colony worlds” he remarked “shall I order the fleet to stop?” he asked The eldest shook his head “if the Dominion is so willing to sacrifice millions of lives for a deception then so be it” he ordered “bring the vengeance around and bring her super laser online” he said coldly
The vessel began looming forward while all vessels where ordered to begin assuming a protective over The Vengeance, as it began to glow lights slowly shut down across the hull as energy began building up at her front a massive charge. Originally she had been a prototype for a sub class for the Super Star Destroyer known as the Eclipse the Vengeance formerly known as the Tarkin was a prototype testing bed for the advance weaponry this class would one day wield. A super weapon capable of leveling entire continents was to have been one of the arms of Imperial dominance when the destruction of the Death Star and the subsequent construction of the second one had bled away too many resources, now she was only one of six to likely exist for a long time. Energy build up completed and in an instance Vengeance took its wrath out on the sacrificial lambs for the Dominions failed trap. Spraying down against the shield which glowed briefly the planets atmosphere became suddenly sick and gray dust and fire belching out rocks the size of cities exploded into the air.
The sensors that had been reading a major power surge faded as they now registered nothing. The massive Dominion construct faded revealing nothing but a small already dying and damaged frame. The realization that dawned on some of the imperial staff hardened them that day, the colonies existed only to justify the massive power needed to power that hologram and existed simply to draw away suspicion. The Dominion fought hard fought like The Empire fought to win.
Captain Dorias watched impressed with the destruction “if this was a trap then how could they have known?” “And what purpose was it” The elders eyed each other “to lure us out into the open?” “Not only us at least twenty percent of Imperial intelligence most trusted officers are here...They wished to weaken the orders spy masters!
“Still, how could they have known?” “Indeed aside from us none had any direct org” they all paused and turned “Captain Dorias put ray shields around us at once!” the eldest yelled “one of us is a changeling spy!” he roared.
Dorias eyes widened the implications of that alone, he fell back into his seat doing as he ordered before the sensor alarms suddenly went off every where. “Captain! We have Dominion ships pouring out from one of their star drive openings behind the planet!” a tech yelled
Captain Dorias rose up “SCRAMBLE ALL FIGHTERS ORDER THE REMAINING FLEET TO JUMP ONTO OUR LOCATION AT ONCE!” he roared they had to escape here.
“Sir we have sensor profiles on the dominion vessels “ “Status” “twelve hundred of their smaller craft “ he whispered Dorias bit back a curse and turned “all power to weapons and engines all vessels crescent formation move forward we’re meeting them head on!” he roared
Thousands and thousands of fighters belched out of the Imperial vessels as the large fleet began lumbering into motion. Engines began glowing as the large vessels took formation and began their dance with death.
Hundreds of TIE fighters preceded their gargantuan masters armed with new missiles recently designed by Grand Admiral Martio Batch and Grand Admiral Seras, their tiny frames and resolved pilots watched as the fleet of over a thousand of those occurred smaller vessels pored around the planets orbit. Under gunned and out maneuvered the valiant imperial officers threw themselves into death – firing their little bolts and proton missiles as Bombers tried to avoid being smashed by on coming Dominion bugs what just ploughed completely through them opening a torrent of white death at the lead eclipse who’s only response was to flood immediate space with all manners of missiles and turbo lasers impacting against shields tearing into armor.
From his position aboard the Solomon an older Venator commander Gaharis Flitick saw what he looked like tiny fire works as fighters and Bugs met in battle and his face grimaced when he realized those pretty looking floral like explosions were fighters being mowed down by suicidal vessels determined to take as much of the empire with them into hell. “Order all escorts and gun boats in our group to reinforce the fighters keep the Bugs from getting to our destroyers and hold the line!” he yelled
Several Tecto and a dozen Venators turned to give full broad sides to the on coming enemy as fighters chased bugs lobbing off missiles and bolts of energy that meshed with capital ship fire to cause tremendous explosions
Captain Dorias turned eying the Captured old men as the bridge began to shake as bug fighters began approaching closing and closer their swarming frenzy breaking through dedicated flak. “Order the Ulic and The shadow to cover the command bridge” he snapped turning and eying the prisoners one began to laugh “what’s so amusing my lord”
“Oh how quickly you sniffed it out!” he laughed loudly “the last super spy group we did this too failed even in the end” he grinned the aged form slumping, the others turned gasping “it was you! But when...” “my old friend when have you ever noticed any changes in my movements or attitude or behavior” The other two ancients gasped “you’ve always been here?” the creature kept laughing cackling as his face began melting and sagging becoming silver in color before liquefying completely.
Dorias leapt back pulling out a blaster as storm troopers began aiming at the ray shields, a amber colored liquid tore through the shielding slashing a trooper clean in half before launching upward dodging fire and escaping into a vent “find him!” he yelled as the bridge shook again violently and he motion to release the other two before turning back to the battle at hand “Damage report” he yelled “twenty five Venators destroyed another thirty damaged we’ve lost one ISD over four hundred bugs have been destroyed” his aid called.
“Move us forward press the advantage” he ordered.
.................
....
Artistic maneuvers that was the key! Or at least that’s what Commander Farnezia Sforza had been taught in the Imperial academy at Cardia, dance around your enemy and take it apart with skill and finesse and she found herself uttering a curse under her breath as her fighter squadron had been rammed by one of those bugs she had lost close to a dozen good men to the Dominion onslaught, the rest of her division managed to escape and come around behind a bug hurling proton missiles and weaponry at the rear she managed what she guessed was a lucky shot, the explosion cooked some of her men alive and she could hear them coughing and wheezing over the Comm, radiation poisoning rotting and tearing into their bodies, quickly she ordered them to turn to keep focused to stay in the fight for as long as they could. She shook her head, they called her big sister and she had begun to see them all as younger siblings. “Sis can’t see too well” the voice on the other hand was Lance Storm a young kid from some poverty planet in the outer rims. They called him block head he had eight brothers and six sisters a huge family. “hang in there boy” she ordered “we’ll be back to medical” “can’t keep the fight going for the empire” he said the two fighters veered off ramming into the engine of a bug as it took critical fire from one of the giants the combined fire and suicide run caused the vessel to explode tearing it into pieces.
Deep inside the vengeance
Roan Martin was a security officer that had been part of this conscripted force, stalking along the walk way with a dozen armed storm troopers deep in the bowels of the huge eclipse class, he had reached the end of one corridor and turned down another “Twenty five years I been in security never allowed no stinking Xeno scumbag to evade me aint gonna allow it to happen now “he snapped
“Yeah but are we sure this thing even works?” he asked meaning the tracking device they had wiped up since the reports about the changelings capabilities got credibility “it aint moving now one way or the other” he said “great now how do we find” a storm trooper mumbled. Martin turned eying the metallic poles beside the railing then opened fire on one which quickly liquefied lunging out past the troopers who responded quickly opening fire on it the beast wailed and roared wiping back slashing one and impaling a second, the troopers kept firing as Security chief Martin grinned “ENGINEERING NOW” he yelled into a communicator, the lights flickered as blasters kept firing on the creature then the area lit up electricity tore along the walk way and poring into the amber colored monster which howled in agony finally turning into a sickly black color succumbing to its wounds, or at least so it appeared.
“regretfully captain it couldn’t be captured” he said over the com “understood take what ever is left of it back to the medical bay” he snapped the ship shook violently “the hell was that sir?” “No clue let’s move”
..............
.....
On the Bridge Captain Dorias growled watching as a large hole was blown into his vessel, a Tecto class moved to cover the area firing on Dominion vessels joining its pay load with the mess of fighters and heavy TL fire. “We’re whittling them down” he remarked “prepare to jump to safety” he ordered as one of the Star destroyers exploded beside him in a fury of white death balls. As that happened several slipstream vortexes opened as series of Dominion capital ships and hundreds more bugs exited.
Behind them all exited a massive craft as large as his own ship appearing like purple giant predatory insect its nacelles glowed brilliantly before fading shields raised and it stared down face to face with the massive eclipse.
Captain Flitick watched as the two massive vessels appeared before each other “scan that monster” he ordered calmly “I’m detecting dozens of torpedo bays and seventy five of their beam weapon emplacements” “I’m also identifying several unknown torpedo bays might be the same anti matter based weaponry we have seen defend their bases”
“Slowly back away boys” he ordered “this is between the Vengeance and what ever the hell that is” he said sitting down.
...........
aboard the vengeance
Captain Dorias eyed the monster vessel there had been rumors of a ship that large aiding in various parts of the mid rim invasion. Unknown to him it was real, “I want all ships to form up around us” he said eying the two old masters “your existence is too important” he said calmly “you must leave here” he said The two ancients eyed each other nodded before heading to the shuttle bay “we thank you for your service..this failure will be on us and not you or your men” they said a hollow lie as blame would be shifted to many “send the medical facility word I want the remains of that thing brought with us to the imperial capital” he said before turning to head towards the shuttle bays.
“Sir the vessel is hailing us” an aid remarked. Dorias nodded “let us hear them” he said needing to buy time for the elders to escape.
A holographic being appeared before him solid projection of skill the Dominion was becoming well known for. He eyed his counter part intently an ancient face dressed in the garb of the Various social classes through out the Galaxy the face was well known as the leader of the war effort against the Empire “so you are Vi’retess? “He asked calmly the older Vorta smiled warmly a smile of such friendless and tranquility that it utterly unnerved the imperial commander “so you’ve heard of me? I am flattered” he said calmly “you have taken impressive losses close to a hundred of your major vessels are destroyed I count six hundred of your escorts dead or dying with most your Star Destroyers damaged and needing the rest for cover” “I don’t need an appraisal of my own fleet” he said coldly
“oh but you do” he said somberly “your men cannot retreat and a fight to the death my friend will surely result in abject failure you will try and take many of us with you but you will fail” he said calmly “and in an effort to save themselves those old conjurors will undoubtedly blame this failure all on you and your men I offer you of course an alternative to death and betrayal” he said
Dorias growled “and what would that be?” “Surrender your fleet and promise it to the cause of Cosmic order of course” ‘you’re not really here because of the rebels are you?” he asked “of course not but they are an easy way in that is for sure”
He eyed his aid who nodded the old ones had departed and then he nodded gesturing to begin charging the super laser the old Vorta frowned when his aids on his side of the battle told him of the situation
“What are you doing?” he asked “let me tell you something about us” Dorias snapped “Humanity is a special species we’ve brought civilization and order to this galaxy and we did it totally with out your pathetic false gods” he snapped “for twenty five thousand years we have held the light of order in this galaxy and the empire embodies that order” he snapped “so get out of our galaxy you Xeno scum!” he yelled
Vi’retess frowned “what a shame” he said coldly “and to think you mean to destroy my ship with your laser when I gave you the chance, very well blasphemer die and meet your Dark side worshiping masters in hell” his hologram vanished
...............
.....
The large Dominion cruiser began to back off it’s weapon systems glowing as the Super Laser charged as instantly all that remained of the star destroyers opened fire on the Dominion ships, the massive giant opened fire white orbs and beams lanced out at the giant Eclipse as the super laser went off green death flying out as The floating giant Dominion cruiser shifted violently narrowly avoiding being hit one of it’s nacelles utterly vaporized massive explosions rocking along its wounded side as entire decks burst into flames the defenseless ISD now with its power down was bombarded endless with every weapon the Dominion command ship had as well as several of the capital ships.
From his Venator Flitick watched in horror as the massive giant began breaking apart and slowly exploding in space the heavily damaged dominion cruiser moving from the fight but providing support fire for the renewed assault.
He knew with out the eclipse class the forces assembled would not last very long. “Who’s in command now” he asked “the secondary ship has been smashed Captain Varo of the Targerin is in command now” his aid whispered. Flitick nodded “order our battle group to fall behind him and begin opening fire! We’ll take as many of those Dominion bastards to hell with us” he roared.
……
Unknown regions several light years from the battle
a ship exited hyperspace a shuttle slowing down then going off putting out a distress signal in subspace.
On the inside two ancient men lay asleep gas pumping through the environmental system the small part of the shuttle where the “remains of the changeling” was placed was awash with blood as a founder walked out and looked down at the ancient husks around him men he had worked with for decades men who’s cruelty and ambition were worthy of inclusion among the most trusted servants of the Dominion “it’s a shame that things did not go completely as planned for I could have had a Grand Admiral or two but such as life” he said in a mock lamented voice before taking a seat “but your selfish nature did prove worth while in the end after all you will be a treasure trove of information” he remarked laughing as a Dominion ship appeared off the side the two old men and the changeling vanished in a swirl of lights.
Coruscant several hours later
Furious Guylos stalked down the hall to the war room. Bursting opens the doors Grand Admiral Nial Declann and several Grand Moffs turned eying him with surprise “Grand Admiral Guylos”
“Look at this” he snapped tossing him a data pad, Declann picked it up and read it “The emperor received similar he was most displeased” “I would imagine! How could Imperial Intelligence amass a fleet like this ““Staffed with their own men I’d imagine” one of the Grand Moff’s said “I can’t see the problem if they succeed though it is disturbing they were able to amass a fleet beneath our notice”
“indeed” Declann said “rest assured they will be surely punished should they return” “they haven’t” Guylos said “Thanagar sent a scout fleet into the area all they saw where burning ships dying in the stars the Dominion fleet had moved on” he said “there was almost nothing left to salvage”
Declann glared his eyes heating “so it wasn’t even their capital!” “No” He smashed the table “then they have blasphemed against the Emperor in their failure!” he shouted “and weakened the Intelligence community while doing it, who knows how many have been captured” one of the moffs said
“This is terrible” Guylos hissed “This is a catastrophe!” roared Declann he calmed himself quickly eying the Moffs who swiftly took the hint and departed from the room “The emperor will be furious he will demand heads for this” “he can have the imperial intelligence” Guylos answered Declann nodded “I will contact our people in the press and tell them the tale of our brave imperial battle group and its valiant sacrifice to destroy a major Dominion colony, it will boost moral and keep this under wraps”
“With respect Declann we need a real victory! “He said firmly “and we shall have one brother you must trust the will of the Emperor! Jewell will deliver us from these strings of losses”
“sacrifices must be made for the Emperor and all” Guylos remarked his voice calm and even but inside he was fuming with rage being forced to watch the empire fall around him “exactly this is why you stand with us my friend” “you are every bit the emperors hand”
“I live to serve” he said bowing his head in submission before turning to leave, his mind utterly made up something had to be done about the Emperor and soon or the empire might not survive this war.
not as much as I hoped to write but I'm pressed for him hope its better than the last battle

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
The obsidian order would like me to pass alonge they didn't fail, they merely sent an operative deep undercover to retrieve the kidnapped Bashir. :)
Seriously not bad. Dominion ripped the Imperials a new one and that changling...he's good.
A pity the superlase missed it by "this" much but at least they took a pylon out. Evil Xeno pylon.

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
not a great deal of action this chapter. lots of polticing and plotting and of course the old changeling tells one mammoth of a propaganda story
Imperial news service away! lots of propaganda..and a meeting between the scion of house skywalker and the devil in old mans clothing lol
hope you guys enjoy
Holonet all around the galaxy in various homes and estates and planets.
Trumpeting and a loud chorus went off, as the imperial seal appeared before a group of dozens of troopers marching. A loud voice over sounded off like some ancient propaganda flick.
“The war continues and the malignant Dominion horde and their treasonous rebel soldiers push harder and harder into imperial space”
Clips of various space battles appeared images of Dominion vessels slugging it out with Star Destroyers “every where the insect shaped ships appear death swiftly follows “
Clips of mountains of dead aliens and humans strewn about over cities as Dominion and Imperial troops trade desperate blows
“The only thing keeping the Galaxy safe from freedom and malignant alien influences is the Emperors will!” massive fleets are shown traveling through space storm troopers shown training as the emperor looks on.
“And the valiant soldiers of the empire that stood their ground and fought with unyielding fury and dedication Imperial soldiers who are men and women like you and me with families willing to lay it on the line”
Images flashed of cowardly rebels making back alley deals and skulking in the night “unlike the Rebel alliance and their Dominion masters the empire stands for purity and order and justice”
“All able bodied citizens are required to head to the neared recruitment office to try out for a position in the Empire! Remember the Galaxy and our noble glorious race depend on the emperor’s vision and depend on you!”
The propaganda faded and the image of several older men appeared. “today’s broadcast comes with good tidings” the lead older man declared “earlier this week a fleet under command of Admiral Rygellian Antarez invaded Hune Sector capital and retook it!” he declared “and twenty four hours ago a fleet lead by Veteran Captain Firontine Dorias sacked a major Dominion shipyard” he proclaimed “they destroyed it utterly but at grave cost” he said his voice becoming droll and calm serene full of deep reverence “ much like Galadere Suroc before him Dorias fell in his struggle against the Dominion hordes, but his death was not in vain! He fell but not before he took two thousand Dominion ships with him!!” he said loudly
“I’m rejoined by Doctor Elias Tiern and Grand Admiral Enzo who had been so great in providing for us an analysis when the first major Dominion offensive occurred” “Doctor Tiern what do you make of this sudden loss of momentum”
“It’s typical insecurity and panic, The Dominion leadership clearly believes in their own supremacy their own racial superiority and the justification of their own cause! This is evident look how they buckled two major victories days apart and not once do they make any deliberate action they haven’t mustered any kind of counter attack truly it’s pathetic I predict this and I maintain the Dominion will fold their arrogance and false convictions will destroy them! “
“They have not made any attack yet because they are likely still regrouping” Grand Admiral Enzo remarked “we have the advantage now the balls in our court and it is up to us to smash them now!”
“I think we don’t have too” Tiern interjected “I believe that after one major victory the destruction of one of their key facilities or colonies? Yeah, that’ll be enough to bring them to the table all the better if we strike and knock out some of their leaders I think they’d fold completely”
“Leaders are important to the continuing of a war” the lead journalist nodded Enzo sighed “while that’s absolutely an imperial priority I disagree I believe the imperial policy of luring them deeper into our territory draw them far from their supply lines we can effectively watch them fall apart”
“I would not dare to fain knowledge on such things as military actions and tactics” Dr Tiern said bowing his head “but I would think destroying your enemy’s morality and utterly breaking them might be the cheapest way”
“It’s also easier said than done Doctor you as a psychologist should know that such things as mental fortitude are not easy to predict and even the seemingly weakest of us can surprise you”
“Oh sure for humans but surely not for these “founders” he stated with confidence “I can assure you” he declared.
“Can you?” he asked his tone some what predatory and sly “gentlemen, gentlemen” the host raised his hands “we can at least agree that there are many, many ways to take down these Dominion vermin!”
“Of course”
“Now then onto our next topic, the reports of mysterious shape changing monsters calling themselves “the founders” he said “are they real? Truly?”
“Yes” Enzo said “these maniacs think they are living gods and that its they’re duty to impose cosmic order on the universe! They want to rule it all”
“Abominable” Tiern interrupted “such creatures really are vermin mentally unstable, the only recourse is to wipe them from the face of the Galaxy, I mean I can see some true resentment and projection issues from these poor demented creatures who truly view themselves superior to human culture it’s clearly a farce they are resentful and furious they know they can’t possibly truly emulate your pristine civilization and thus seek to destroy it! Like a frustrated child who can’t properly build a tower with blocks “
Enzo nodded “I can attest to they’re insanity on Hune General Briggs and the legendary Dragon General Rainor encountered a truly monstrous creature that murdered and tortured human children and women it wiped out entire families and pretended to be a little girl the creatures depravity new no bounds, truly these creatures are a paramount threat” he said “but imperial research and development is working on methods of “ he paused smirking “amending that issue” he said “rest assured we will make these false gods pay dearly”
…….
Allied star base Red Dawn
Captain Garros sat with Admiral Akbar and Viraz the giant creature the group observed the holographic display ‘hmm the accusation of dead children is especially offensive” he snorted in a low growl. Garros nodded “they’re trying to poison the well” he said though internally he was beginning to wonder, He knew the Admiral likely felt the same way. “It makes sense” a Vorta who was watching as well said nodding before passing some snacks to the others “from a tactic stand point you know information warfare and all propaganda” he said “we’ve been running our own counter propaganda since the invasion”
“That might change they’re getting better at countering our hacks” Viraz remarked The Vorta nodded “truly a deplorable enemy one who can think like you and despite a lower tech base adapt”
“oh who’s adapting” the voice came from the entrance to the hall, Garros rose up as did Akbar as they turned eying the Changeling that entered the room, the one known as the ancient one. He smiled pleasantly walking into the room eying the propaganda “oh that? Pathetic “he said “I mean it is a common place tactic but truly I despise it” he said
‘your chief Vorta is very skilled in the art” Akbar noted “oh Vi’retess yes he is, he is what he was designed to be and more” he remarked then frowned “you dislike that notion?” “Well the thought he’s manufactured to function politically for you” Akbar said “do they represent all of the Dominion”
“Just us” the old one answered technically it wasn’t a lie they represented the founders who were the Dominion. He sat down “do you know the story?” “That they gave you shelter and you uplifted them?” Akbar asked skeptically ‘well it is a half truth” he answered “we did uplift them” he answered “while the Dominion was founded ten thousand years ago the Vorta have only existed for about two and a half thousand years” he explained “see before them and the Jem’Hadar “ he said “we relied on Viraz people as our soldiers “
“Unwilling were the founders to risk the lives of other species we volunteered” the great bear said. The old one nodded “and a group of races functioned as our primaries” he said “as we expanded in our galaxy we encountered various powers but none that could really challenge us” he admitted “we expanded our economy into every sector and through trade created for ourselves a modest empire” he admitted
“passive imperialism” Akbar said “not even intentional our trading partners economies and cultures became so interlinked with our own they just sort of became “the Dominion” we offered membership after that” he said “occupied some worlds usually after war but that was rare, honestly it was such a unique phase of our history I doubt you’d find another large stellar nation with such a thing” he said “in any event we ran into an Empire of similar size and power to our own” he said and this part was true the founders never liked talking about this period and it was “excised” as best it could be from their history. “The Ayrins” they called themselves” he said “I remember the war” he breathed “in one battle Arn’Durgur they called it, it was as if space itself caught fire, the dead numbered in the tens of millions on both sides” he eyed Akbar “our loyal warriors soon became an endangered species our loyal attaches home world was a major center for the old Dominion we had moved to their moon it became our home world” he said “and then it happened, the Ayrins their armadas broke through our defenses and came home “ he said “I remember seeing the stars themselves vanish such was the myriad of ships” he said “two hundred thousand vessels in total”
Garros paled Akbar shifted in his seat “excuse me?” he asked “never in Galactic history has a fleet that large been assembled” he said “well it probably wouldn’t be both sides by that point had been so exhausted that any strike would have to be a last battle one to end it all with everything on the line that day, both sides pulled all of their resources all of their ships even picket forces every single asset that could fly shoot and make an ftl trip was hurled into battle” he said calmly “six species were wiped out and our home world was destroyed both sides lost everything it was a terrible war” he said “and we all fled” he said ruefully “in our last remaining ships and settled on the home world of his race” he said indicating Viraz “on their moon, the other side lost some eighty percent of their own population it was truly gruesome and we came to two conclusions the first: our existence as an economic empire means it’s unfair to ask our client races to fight for us and secondly and this may sound cold but they are unreliable, the war lasted four centuries the time it took to train and equip men and replenish losses meant those centuries where truly long and terrible and stressful on every one so we simply decided to manufacture our own from now on” he remarked “an army loyal to the cause to our client races and to ourselves one that could be bred trained and sent off to war in days, the administrative end came from well simply put the species that did it before was so perfect we thought it would be impossible to replace them” he leaned back in his chair
“We found a race of primitives ape like creatures, they were unusually intelligent and adaptable we uplifted them” he began “well that is to say we took many genetic samples and a few live specimens and began work on our creations” he said
“Some would argue you created a slave race” Akbar remarked “oh the Vorta have total control of the science labs “he said a white lie trusted Vorta did have access to the tech and regulated it and made use of it but it was primarily founders run. “They could easily take their species and the Jem’Hadar and do as they please, they don’t because they willingly serve us” he said “they have chosen their path”
“It’s true” The Vorta said rising up “we are servants of the Dominion and we will be nothing else” he said walking away. The old Founder turned eying them “thinking of the battle?’ “We have not heard back from them in hours”
The Ancient one nodded “give it time” he said “I have a feeling we will soon enough”

Outer rim territories near Red Dawn
The lizard like alien coughed hard as he exited a Jeffries tube full of ash and burn wiring, he grumbled as others helped him up “Nanomachines active we’ve replaced as much of the power relays as we could and all other repair systems active” he got up all around them glowing thin plastic like tubes jutted out from open consuls and power conduits, a weapon that normally served to disable vessels or take control of them had been reprogrammed to assist in repairs and expedite auto repair systems. Technicians scrambled along the mammoth hulk “overseer Vi’retess demands we be capable of entering slip stream on our own in the hour” he demanded
“Agh! Impossible! But he orders it so we must carry it out” one lamented. “The life of all of our species it is but it is a good one we are the makers and builders and fixers “they scurried about.
She had no official name, The Dominion never named their ships but it was the flag ship of the Dominion armada in the Galaxy, currently she sat looming near an asteroid field her destroyed nacelle partially regenerated, the resources mined in the asteroid by the technicians and small drones would be put into the replicators to refine and produce thus conserving energy until the ship could be fully repaired, The tiny miracle working lizards scurried about in space suits rapidly trying to help the automated repair systems which worked hard to get the ship FTL capable again
Around her sat dozens of cruisers and bugs with varying degrees of damage the fleet had been towing the giant since the battle and it was exhausting them and putting undue stress on the star drive, now they hung in imperial space running on silent hoping that they would not have to enter battle again for awhile. Some rebel ships had met them brining supplies from Leviathan, on their way back to the front lines they had managed to keep an eye on the battle and offered what assistance they could.
“We appreciate the help General” Vi’retess remarked as he walked near a caped black man “we will meet our dead line soon enough and you can go about your business rest assured” he remarked “ah it is General yes? Congratulations on your promotion” he said, his rebel companion smiled “do you have a rank?” “no but they have taken to calling me overseer though I dislike the sound” Lando chuckled “then call me Lando” he said Vi’retess nodded “agreed, so tell me how are you liking the upgrades to The Mon Calamari cruisers?”
“the speed and range increase is nice the shields help allot we really would like some weaponry though” he said Vi’retess laughed “oh I would but rules about that and all” he said “tell me something, you have not always been a soldier yes? “He nodded “I was a Mayor of a gas mining city and before that I dabbled in various things” he said coyly Vi’retess laughed “ah you mean you were some kind of pirate and smuggler?” “I have never been charged or convicted” he said with calmly, Vi’retess laughed “easy, easy I appreciate men like you, when it comes to getting what is needed in a war effort having the likes of your ilk in a position of rank means the chain of command usually wont get in the way of what the troops need” he nodded handing him a data pad Lando eyed it “I see”
“apart from our policy regarding advanced weaponry it’s also a bit of a logistical nightmare, how would you build and maintain them?” he asked “our resources would be stretched a bit how ever” he said “those technologies are roughly several centuries old but should if applied with your galaxies typical and exaggerated engineering should be in quantities sufficient to be an issue for your imperial foes” he said
Lando nodded “thank you “ he said Vi’retess laughed “for what I merely turned my back one moment while you examined some computer terminals “ he laughed “come let me walk you to your shuttle, though I don’t know why you wished to fly here we could have beamed you aboard” “I think, that type of technology is going to take awhile to get used too I’m not to keen on the prospect of having my atoms hurled across space and many people probably wouldn’t”
Vi’retess laughed “is that so?” he said “transporter accidents haven’t happened in at least a thousand years but I do recall reading about some early ones once” he shook his head “truly” he said playfully “there was one in particular about a scientist who tested one method of transporter technology an insect got in the beam with him and “he paused mock dramatically
“I don’t think I want to know” Lando said laughing as they exited the turbo lift, the lighting in the docking bay hummed a low blue this section had been repaired several hours earlier but the damage was still considerable. As they entered the docking bay both Lando and Vi’retess eyed a man in black who exited the shuttle bay near him was a small robot that chirped contently. Lando nodded “overseer Vi’retess this one of the rebel alliances greatest fighter pilots and the man who brought the death star down Hero of the battle of Yavin and Hoth and Jedi Knight”
Vi’retess eyed the man appraisingly, a slightly scarred face and calm but conflicted eyes that had seen much loss and gain for their young years stood back at him. “Overseer is a nick name I have no rank” he said “but you master Jedi is that the correct term?” he asked
Luke eyed the old alien calmly taking in his form appraising him the same way the Vorta was him he shook his hand. Luke was impressed at the degree of emotional control the creature had over himself was staggering, he was so reserved to serene so guarded his mind was like a fortress he had encountered strong minds before but this one it was as if it was trained specifically to resist any scanning or mental intrusion and it was very experienced at it. Curiosity piqued his curiosity and he pushed a little harder trying to read him. Vi’retess frowned “now that’s very rude of you young man I never gave you permission to scan my mind”
Luke was shocked he had only the experience of other force users to guide his reference with such matters and pulled his hand back “I’m sorry I was just impressed by your defenses” Vi’retess smiled though internally he was some what dismayed this child could sniff out his own defenses on sheer instinct he was going to have to adjust his defenses and make note of this as a warning when dealing with these “force users” “our people have encountered telepathic species before and have had to adjust ourselves accordingly but of course the Jedi did not use standard telepathy yes?”
“Right do you know much on the Jedi?” “less than you likely my boy I have only reports and intelligence files to guide my knowledge “he attested “but when you have the chance come by Red Dawn there is something I would like to show you, and if you would like I can teach you what I know about mental shielding I do have some practical experience in the matter”
“I would like that” Luke said “it was good to meet you” Vi’retess nodded “like wise” he said he nodded to Lando before departing.
As the shuttle took off Lando smirked handing Luke the data pad Luke examined it and nodded “so what do you think of him?” he asked Luke thought on it before beginning “I can’t tell” he said “I just know danger surrounds him”
“For the imperials you mean?”
“For every one”
……..
Vi’retess walked towards the command center he was joined by several Vorta and two Vulcan looking women his “telepaths” “did you meet the so called Jedi?” “He’s a Jedi alright” Vi’retess said “their extinction was an assumption on our part and on the part of those fool sith lords” he remarked coldly “this one is powerful too powerful too much potential when the war is over we must see that it’s destroyed” he all but hissed.

Andromeda Galaxy
Simon Tarses eyed the holographic display he could make out the old War bird and its fleet smashed and damaged all around them primitive dominion ships lay dead in space and near it a large hulk donut shaped with a large sphere in the center which had an entire section blown wide open as well as an extensive amount of battle damage all over the “donut” like section. “I have no idea what the hell that ship is but that’s the Taralak “he said pointing to the green large vessel looming over the ruins of various early Dominion craft. “Scans show the Taralak to suffer the most minor of damage I think what killed every one aboard was a radiation leak from the early generators” Chief Magnus said. Dartanis nodded “and the other Romulan ships?” “I wouldn’t recommend trying to beam aboard all dead and exposed to vacuum, the Dominion ships have fared no better but we can probably establish a computer link with them download any information we need”
“Good I want to know what the hell happened and how did they get out here, what about the Taralak?” “I sent nanites over they should have repaired the leak I can start a power transfer and within an hour we can breathe life back into her”
“Good I want detailed records on everything” he paused
Tarses stood up “I would like to be on the away team that boards that ship” he said several Romulan security officers nodded as well “you may do so and Simon” he said “T’krell was a legend to the Romulan people” he said “I want his personal effects and body retrieved if possible we’ll send it back home with the relieved staff so it can be given a heroes burial” He nodded “understood sir”
He turned eying the giant “and now about that” he asked Magnus nodded “it’s gigantic, I’m reading several massive ion based engines and an unknown star drive fusion based power source” he said “what fusion?” Dartanis asked Magnus nodded “aye sir but very customized and refined I’ve never seen some one make such use that technology before” he admitted “apart from that I’ve seen about a hundred different heavy plasma based laser turrets ““what?” this time the question came from Rainbird who eyed it intently “technology like that wouldn’t even phase our navigational deflectors how could it have survived a free for all between the birds and the bugs” he snapped
“wrong type of lasers these are frightfully powerful and not “true lasers” in the strictest sense, again primitive technology refined to a level that it may as well be sophisticated near as I can tell if this giant took on a Galaxy class from before the dominion war? It’d more than likely win “ he said calmly “while a ship like this wouldn’t be a threat to one of our upgraded fleet here a dozen of these with more war like upgrades could probably cripple or maim the Yamamoto or the Typhon for example” Magnus remarked “modern Dominion ships probably have more like three or four to one numbers this is of course a rough assumption I’m not sure about their range or speed or any such thing” he remarked “this is of course assuming this, the best the galaxy we’re going to has to offer”
Dartanis nodded eying Rainbird “I want you go in there with an away team” he said calmly “take some of the engineering crews I want to see if they can get access to their data bases salvage as many tech samples as you can I want to know as much about the guard dogs this new yard has” he said coldly “and find out why the hell they are out here”
“Aye sir” Rainbird said “our teams can be ready in an hour” “we need more time with the Romulan ruins say eight hours?” Magnus asked The Captain nodded “so be it Captain Rainbird your teams deploy in four hours see how much information your engineering crews can gather about the vessel before hand if you can get life support up or anything” he said “it might make for an interesting find for RnD over at Starfleet intelligence” he said Rainbird nodded “dismissed”
The two commanders left Rainbird looking over at Tarses “nervous?” he asked “an away mission to a mysterious fleet graveyard where the lost souls of dozens of Romulan soldiers have rested?” he asked “oh no what’s to fear” he said with a nervous laugh “you shouldn’t speak of spirits so lightly” Rainbird said “you’re a believer?” Tarses asked “does it surprise you Restiv practices his peoples faith, ensign Jericho is a Baptist your helmsmen a Catholic” Tarses nodded “there are some who still cling to their faiths its’ there right it’s just” “your faith is apart of your heritage boy and I’ve been in Starfleet for decades I’ve seen things you cannot imagine and none of it disproves the existence of the ethereal a few things reinforced it honestly”
Tarses nodded “Yeah Captain Picard said similar to me once” he said Rainbird nodded as they were joined by Captain Dartanis the older captain chuckled “Jean-Luc said that? Wise man” he said Simon nodded “did you know him?” he asked “We met once” he said “or twice I think, it was a long time ago” he paused trying to remember “ah, yes before he took command of stargazer we were stationed at a star base together for six months, we played cards discussed archeology he had allot of potential that one” he admitted “I worked for a distant uncle of his though” he said calmly “oh really Rainbird asked. Dartanis nodded “I thought they were closer related but Picard explained to me a branch of the family had settled mars while the more traditionalists Picard the elder stayed behind” he said “but I served as XO and later in the fleet of Admiral Jacques Picard” he said they both looked surprised “the hammer?” he asked “the very same “Simon nodded “I wasn’t aware you fought in the earth Romulan wars sir” “aside from Doctor Phlox and T’pol I was the only non human in Starfleet well in the military at the time” he said “it was a hell of war honestly Romulans fought like hell “ Simon nodded “tell me Tarses does your family observe your Romulan heritage?” he asked “my sister does she married a Romulan and my brothers tried to track down our Romulan ancestors but I’ve been sort of remiss”
“you should, they are a complex people” he conceded “powerful though on the inside they have something Vulcan’s forgot about and I think humans embrace a passion that when applied right channeled constructively like humans do can take them far, consider this trip your chance to reconnect”
Rainbird nodded “it’s said in my tribe a man can’t shed his skin nor can he dispose of his blood” he said “even if the parts he doesn’t like better to make peace with it “he said “in any case before we end up in that grave yard, and really step into it” the three laughed as they stopped by a window eying the cadaverous ruins floating in space.
Coruscant opera house
Grand Admiral Guylos, Grant and several Moff’s sat in an opera booth as they watched the play go on. “Did you see the broadcast earlier?” Guylos asked “I did” Grant said calmly “he plays his part well Grand Admiral Enzo “ he remarked “but he’s not the party line puppet he pretends to be” Grant nodded “a potential threat?” “I don’t know we have approach this carefully and I think it should wait until after Endor”
“Speaking of which” one of the Moff’s said “Pellaeon is the one we should seek out there” “are you sure?” Grant remarked he nodded “the man is like Thrawn an idealist” he said “he’ll serve who ever better embodies the new order once this charade ends” he said Guylos nodded “I met him a few times during the clone wars he’s good to have at your side in a tight spot. “ he said calmly “your dog Thanagar contacted me” Grant said changing the subject “did he” Guylos asked “he’s relocating says he found a suitable base “in the outer rim territories Sartinaynian “ he said
“In the Braxant sector?” one Moff asked, Grant nodded “commoner does have his merits it’s out of the way though close to crimson shield and a few major trade routes for that region” he said calmly “but out of the way of prying eyes”
“Begin moving our people out there in the sector “he said calmly “we’ll assign it some construction “
“We need to assign it a code name” Seras asked
“How about Bastion? “
“Sounds good” Guylos said Grant laughed “sounds like the name of a capital for a government in exile” he said sarcastically

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
Yeah for Imperial news! We shall smash those evil Xenos, drive them back to hell!
Okay...I'm better now. I promise. :)
I also liked the Trade Federation battleship found among the dead ships, something very odd happened out there. I can only imagine what we'll find among their festering hulls and rotting crewmembers still at their posts.

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
I've been planning on rewatching the first two Alien movies maybe aliens3 as well some time over the next week or so meaning I'll do my best to portray the..derelict situation and the cargo within as absolutely horrifying as possiblesonofccn wrote:Yeah for Imperial news! Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
here is a little filler to keep things busy and hopefully to encourage you better writers (khas preao sonofccn I'm looking at you!) to write
some much longer posts coming..we're gonna see the horrors of the grave fleet..the rebels activity
and I promised khas some ham to ham combat...Vi'retess and Sidious are gonna throw down verbally across the galaxy and i'll try to make an epic battle of wills between the dark sorcerer who would be god and lord of all life and the demonic servant of those who already are (least as far as they think)
did a little shout out to your fic sonof with the quote hope you don't mind?
“When, facing an enemy that fights hard and fast your best bet is to move slowly but ferociously. If every move he makes is swift and thunderous yours must be akin to a roaring land slide slow but all encompassing and utterly unyielding”- Excerpt from Grand Admiral Darien Guylos personal journal
Methods of Extra-Galactic warfare published 3408 AD
The Taralak had fallen in battle decades ago a floating tomb dedicated to her command staff, sat dying in space orbiting a massive asteroid. Around her dead dominion and Romulan craft lay hewn about it. The lights and power had completely faded years ago, gravity being maintained only because of the stagnant orbit over massive debris from a planet that failed to form so long ago. Machines slowly came to life as environmental systems that had not been activated in years came online, power transfer from the massive Sarmiento bringing the reactor core online charge building up to create a new singularity. The vessel would be put on auto pilot sent into a star a tribute to its fallen leader and its glorious mission what ever that was.
Sound echoed in the ship as for the first time in decades a group of people materialized appearing before the now barely illuminated bridge. Commander Tarses and several Romulan security staff members slowly forming began to gaze around in wonder, the place was torn open wires hung loose and an eerie feeling of complete solitude nearly chocked the atmosphere. This place was a beast they were inside a corpse and the stench of death infested everything!
“Scorch marks sir” one of the security officers remarked “poloron weaponry, old Romulan disruptors they fought to the bitter end” he said Tarses nodded as they walked along the hall way the dims lights flickering. One of the engineering technicians a young human female let out a loud screech and jerked back, she came before the form of a large creature his hands around the remains of another a spear impaling him to the wall sealed their fates.
“Remens” Tarses said “and I think that’s a Jem’Hadar” he said calmly “only it must be an older model “he remarked the remains were much sleeker thinner and stream lined then the hulking brutes he remembered from the war. “Two slaves races why would they fight so hard?” she asked “because it was the only outlet of their hatred “one said “The Jem’Hadar and the Remens were kindred spirits” Tarses nodded “I remember during the invasion of Cardassians space seeing two of them, burned maimed limbless collapsed on each other an hour later I had found they drowned in each others blood” “you’d think they’d reach out for each other” “not necessarily-when you encounter yourself in another it’s not always love or appreciation that comes to the surface some times it can be rage an intense resentment projected onto the enemy and you seek their life only to find in the end you seek your own”
She shuddered “sounds like a terrible war sir” she said “well” a medical technician a rather friendly looking female Denobulan remarked changing the subject “The war started for them almost two decades before the Dominion War” she said “meshes with the time line of his retirement” Tarses said as they walked “sir I’m getting readings inactive but the organic virus the Dominion used to nearly start a war with the Tzenkethy? I think I see its poor cousin” she said “we should be careful “Tarses remarked as they made their way towards the bridge.
The scene that greeted them left every one awe struck and silent. Around the opening to the bridge doors lay strewn over two dozen bodies around the corpses of six Romulan guards and an unknown alien that lay beside the Romulans “hmm another Dominion client race? Or perhaps the owner of what ever is out there?” he asked “maybe he’s some kind of preacher” The human engineer remarked moving some of her hair from her eyes to scan him “what makes you say that” another technician asked “his clothing those simple brown robes the tunic” she said a security guard nodded kneeling down he scanned a long metallic tube “oh, well this is interesting” he said calmly “it’s a concentrated laser of some kind plasma based with some kind of primitive shielding or looping technology” he lifted it up looking over at commander Tarses “sir with permission?”
“Do, it” he said gesturing that they should all stand back. The security officer fumbled around before he found the power button instantly it ignited into a bright blue “blade” The Romulan nodded moving it around “it’s powerful to be sure primitive but there is a great deal of care and tradition put behind this weapon! A warriors blade” he said “it’s very light though unlike a real sword it would be very easy for a novice to accidentally carve himself up with it, likely it’s user was extremely well trained and highly talented”
“A warrior monk then?” Tarses asked some what surprised “on a Romulan vessel no less” another added “this must have been a desperate last stand; he must have compelled them to fight at his side against the Dominion menace!”
“let’s not conjecture” he remarked “can you open the Bridge doors?” he asked The security officer shook his head “no” he remarked Tarses eyed the human “Ensign Sanchez time to get to work” he said “uhhh, Sir if it’s not too much trouble to ask can you please have your men move the bodies”
Simon nodded

Aboard the Republic Vessel
Captain Rainbird stalked along the corridors of the gargantuan vessel, he was what appeared to be civilian quarters or perhaps an entire sector of the ship divided up for them alone. His technicians had managed to get life support working again and did using small temporary generators restore power, they were going through the computer banks right now downloading anything they could get their hands on. Rainbird took the time to stroll with his security crew, something had killed these people it was more than the radiation and he suspected nerve gas all around him mummified remains of women and children many of them human looking lay contorted about him, the Dominion bastards having usurped control of their vessel some how and slaughtered every one. He could tell the battle was fierce all around him lay corpses of dead Jem’Hadar soldiers guardsmen in some type of blue armored uniform and settlers even a few Remen here and there. Romulans were especially distrustful and they hated humanity at least in the old days especially during this period for them to be working together? As he kept moving he came upon a section were he encountered a sort of medical bay. A man laid there well the remains of one, near him laid the body of a man in robes a definitely human skeleton. Kneeling down he examined him eying him as though he was a distant brother a fellow warrior lost in the dark. He hummed an old native prayer his father had taught him before rising and turning he eyed a security officer who came along handing his commander another metal cylinder “found this near a spot were we detected vaporized matter” he said “this is the seventh one we found usually their beside”
“Aliens and humanoids in robes? “He asked the security officer nodded “aye sir, commander Tarses says he found similar aboard the Taralak” he said Rainbird nodded “to let an outsider on the fleets flagship” he shook his head “, must have been one hell of a battle” he remarked walking along with the guard
“flyer class ships reported back they found a fleet of ships far more armored and armed then this one as well as some Romulan vessels destroyed about a hundred light years from here, destroyed some days before my guess is this was a colony ship of some sort a deep space one maybe with a decent sized escort fleet must have been important”
“Their hyperdrive could not of made it out here alone they must of found the same worm hole we did” “and the Dominion?” Rainbird asked “I have a good idea how the Romulans got here though” he said “you do sir?” “Yes, the outlands” he remarked “it’s a territory near the edge of what used to be Al-Aurian space, it’s rife with tears in subspace huge rips unstable wormholes form and fade the place is a nightmare” he said “they were heading in that direction”
“That’s not naturally occurring” “no it isn’t Captain Sulu discovered it he speculated it was the result of some ancient war, terrible unspeakable weapons. Picard blames Q for it though he blames him for everything that isn’t Borg related including bad weather” that got a chuckled out of the men that only ushered out an eerie echo “boy she’s a big ship”
“Yeah” Rainbird said “but graveyards always ought to be large” he remarked “I’m going to perform a ritual for the dead when we leave we disturbed their slumber and should make amends” he said “back to work men the sooner we leave here the better” he said
Deep within the ruins of the large Lucre hulk class, something began to stir, slowly it moved and extended it’s “eyes’ seeing and perceiving figures and shapes, humans! Starfleet! They weren’t supposed to be out here? Had the War that was being planned ended? Could it even have come to pass? They were here! Another Galaxy! How much time had passed? Did it even have a link to go back! It had slept for what felt like decades and awoken to something utterly impossible! The madness of being “alone” a curse that thrice damned Romulan bastard had given him was utterly maddening it had begun to speak to the dead talk to the voices that it’s mind was creating to compensate for the solace and the maddening frustration of loneliness drove it to a deep sleep only for it to awaken and find the impossible! Anxiety broke giving way to amusement it laughed at its own misery and then realized what it had to do. It would visit misery and humiliation on these humans! This floating tomb was the darkness a darkness it knew only to well a darkness that was its home and it would make them all know that darkness.

Coruscant same time:
The sun began rising over this hemisphere, illuminating in bright orange and red then yellow illuminating a vast palatial loft, artificial rivers and gardens flowed through it a might glass pyramid stood over the garden. It was the personal estate of Chancellor Geris “the resolute” Guylos the head of the Galactic republic during the time of the second great schism. He was a leader known for his dogged determination he threw the republic behind the Jedi and drove the forces of darkness from the Republic and from known space. Nearing six thousand years ago, the Guylos family had kept the estate until eight centuries prior when it was donated to the Republic and eventually bought by the powerful Grant Family, now it was the “Grand Admirals” retreat” as it was called by the press. A place Grant lent out for publicity for the Grand Admirals and imperial moffs planning the war effort, to retire too to host press conferences from and to entertain guests of import. Currently it was being used by Grand Admiral Enzo, Grand Admiral Seras and Grant.
A large fist smashed into a punching bag as Selonous Enzo unloaded his frustration on the bag “these reporters and press conferences are annoying” he snapped Seras laughed “oh? But you do them so well”
“The alternative is Teshik or Synn both not of the best” Grant remarked Selonous was a minor noble descended from a house of merchants, Grand could barely stand him but he did for now, Enzo was a fairly decent combatant and tactician he knew he had served under Dodona at one point and was friends with Thrawn one of the few who would tolerate the blue skinned Grand Admiral. He played things close to the vest had a cadre of loyal commanders and captains and as one of the commanders of the expansion region he held tight to a powder keg. Guylos wanted to approach him for his little “coup” but had held back because getting a read on him was nigh impossible/ certainly though he was the preferred choice over the nearly psychotic half man and the drug addled Tyrell. “I suppose your right we must serve the emperor after all” he said rising up wiping some sweat from his features before standing up and eying the group “Nial Declann is our go to for the emperor yet he has not spoken a word to us personally” he said calmly “I do not like this”
“Let him say nothing” Seras remarked “he trusts us his silence is proof of that, if his majesty feels the need to delegate his voice what’s wrong with that? “ she asked Grant eyed her as though she were insane and Enzo frowned “you seem as though your glad your emperor is silent” he said She shook her head “I will eternally remain thankful to him for replacing Nataasi Daala with myself, how ever” she said “during the clone wars he took very little interest in direct military affairs preferring to handle the political front” she said calmly “he trusted the Jedi and even when they betrayed him it has not hardened his heart nor blinded him he is extending us a great courtesy and I for one refuse to fail him after such an honor”
“good, good” the haggard melodic voice stunned every one and all parties turned to see an ancient figured hooded and cloaked walking with a cane beside him Nial Declann and Guylos stood reverently “You are very perceptive my young Grand Admiral, very perceptive indeed” he said calmly reinforcing her seemingly false belief. Enzo stood as did Grant “my Emperor” they said Seras knelt on her knee eyes bowed in submission “my powers of perception are always yours” “and that is why my enemies will soon know true fear” he said as he moved toward them “I have kept monitoring your progress “he said “things are transpiring nicely” he said a cacophonous laughter echoed the sun lit facility.

Yeah! I'm famous now! :) And of course I thank you for the honor.Admiral Breetai wrote:did a little shout out to your fic sonof with the quote hope you don't mind?
I really liked this line...I could just see Picard going off on one of his speeches about Q being behind every bush and Riker and everyone else just face palming.Picard blames Q for it though he blames him for everything that isn’t Borg related including bad weather
I really liked the "graveyard fleet" segment and am eager for the continuation, so far the mystery simply keeps widening.

Methods of Extra-Galactic warfare
The Taralak
Ensign Jessica Sanchez squinted at the command consol, brown eyes squinting in intense focus as she calmly tweaked with the ancient wiring, her determined gaze directed all of it’s ferocity on the ancient consol as mechanic warred with broken machine. The Romulan security personnel and the Denobulan Doctor eyed her with some reverence she looked like some eccentric philosopher or warrior poet tackling some unknowable implacable foe “almost there?” ensign Ryak asked her taking position near her. Sanchez turned eying her “ask again and I’ll put your head through this door” she declared boldly before going back to the consol “swear whether your Vulcan or Romulan you needle eared pricks are all the same”
“oh that hurts” Commander Tarses said in mock offense “I mean surely, seeing as you report to a Vulcan and all” she laughed “I report to chief Magnus he reports to a Vulcan she reports to Dartanis, I’m so far removed from the chain of command I can get away with the slurs”
“ah, yes the golden rule of Starfleet say what you please as long as the pips on your color aren’t important” Tarses remarked “then again the words that come out of Captain Wildstar and Commander Restiv’s mouth at times has me truly worried” he remarked off handedly the others present laughed before the sound of metallic doors opened all of them turned and eyed the dark opening, the bridge room smelled of death it was quiet so quiet every one moved in slowly a sense of apprehension gripping them all. Tarses took the lead pointing his pulse riffle forward light showing as the security staff did the same, slowly light shown where it had not for decades all around them Romulans sat at their consuls dying all of them, contorted mummified features lay about the Starfleet officers “dying at their posts doing their duty to the very last”
“true Romulans” uttered Ryak who gasped falling to his knees, in the center of this macabre showing sat the body of Romulan sitting up straight even in death his mummified remains yielded not proud the decorated figure sat gazing defiantly at the viewing screen as Sanchez slowly turned on the lighting limited as it was the Denobulan doctor “Romulan male roughly two hundred and six years old” she said looking over the decorated uniform one wrinkled dead hand clutched a disruptor , horrid scaring showed on its face beneath the dry skin she detected damaged bones long ago healed as best they could “he was horribly maimed when he was younger burned and wounded”
“Before his conflicts with Kirk it was said he met Robert April in battle, though the conflict went down as with an unknown vessel it was said the damage done to the vessel caused internal explosions and T’krell was maimed for it left with a portion of his face mutilated and burned he refused any reconstructive surgery preferring to keep it as a reminder for the price of failing the empire” Ryak said
“That is consistent with the findings” she said scanning around him noticing gray thick clay like substance. Ryak fell to his knees before the dead body in reverence “it’s him” he whispered the other Romulans fell to their knees as well Tarses watched the scene and for the first time realized how deeply they had been affected as a people over the last twenty years the destruction of Romulus the Klingon invasion the federation protectorate decree, this man represented a piece of that culture which had been lost and ravaged over time such a rich history.
Tarses turned eying him the fallen admiral and then touched his badge “Tarses to the Sarmiento”
“Sarmiento here” Dartanis voice echoed “Sir I request permission to transport The Remains of Admiral T’krell to the Sarmiento “ “The Crazy horse volunteered to take him home” “yeah but sir half the crew of my ship is Romulan, there are some on yours as well and many on Wildstars vessel”
“You want a memorial site” “a temporary one for moral purposes” the others looked up to him hopeful as silence reigned on the com until “agreed we’ll transport over a stasis pod”
“actually sir it might be better to transport the remains directly into a pod laying down using the transporter if memory serves from my science officer days you can configure the transporter to do it we shouldn’t move it”
“Understood Sarmiento out”
……….
Aboard the derelict Republic ship
John Rainbird made his way to the command center, he noticed two things immediately the ship was very poorly built for a warship it was obviously some type of freighter beforehand but its large size made it excellent for its other purposes which he surmised were chiefly for commerce and trade and in this case colonization. The corpses at the command center lay strewn about all around ruined Jem’Hadar bodies; he began looking around noticing more of those robed monks and laser swords
He eyed the remains as technicians seemed to yell loudly “problem?” he asked “oh no sir just that we finally got into the database we’re transferring everything to the Sarmiento and Typhon now” “good job” he remarked
He had hoped to crack the computer systems before the Taralak had been cracked but the sheer damage of this ship and how foreign the computers had been made that a complete impossibility, the Taralak was already bled dry and ready for a looking over but this ship on the other hand. “What had happened here?” he asked calmly looking around.
……………….
Deeper inside the republic ship
“I’m telling you Gracie its true” “no it isn’t” “then how come it fits perfectly with what allot of historians said the lost decades were like after the third world war?” “Because it’s one of those gritty movies about a dystopian future that was so popular in the late twentieth century!”
“It’s just a movie and a good one Reyes nothing more” lieutenant Jereth Watkins said “and how would you know? You grew up on Alpha Centaury I’m an earth boy!” Reyes laughed “and bob over there is from Sestic and he agrees with me ““what the heck is Sestic?” “one of the colonies from the delta quadrant “ “oh your letting a backwater back you up” he laughed ensign Robert “bob” Jenson laughed loudly “that’s not fair! We’re not backwater”
“Oh yeah how many people went to your school” “a hundred” “what I thought” they all laughed
“What are you three on about now?” another security officer asked “Gracie thinks Alien isn’t a historical documentary” he said “because it isn’t” he snapped “oh yes it is” they all turned eying the middle aged officer “my mom is Dr Jessica Kane” he said “she’s a direct descendent of one who”
“no way” Gracie said cutting him off “for real” lieutenant commander Kane laughed “yeah it is” he knelt down eying one of the corpses “this isn’t good” he said “those slashes” “yeah found them on several of the dead down this corridor” ensign Reyes said “damn! You, you useless rookies!” he snapped grabbing his pulse rifle “where are the engineering staff” he snapped “down in that hall way “
“You left them alone!” he demanded “ensign Fisk is with them” he said in defensive tone “MOVE NOW” he ordered taking off towards the room, rushing in they found nothing various kits and open consuls “were are they?” he yelled turning the group took off down the opposite end of the corridor running the dark worn down vessel appearing more and more ominous with each step until they stopped being greeted by armed phaser pistols as frightened engineer staff eyed them “what’s going on!” one yelled “you tell me! Why did you leave your post?” “We finished up in that area and moved on to the next why?” “Where’s Ensign Fisk” he demanded “I’m not sure he went down this corridor because he thought one of you had called for him”
Kane eyed them all coldly “no sir none of us called him “Jenson said Kane hissed tapping his com badge “Captain Rainbird we have a problem, some of the corpses”
Rainbird who was eying various corpses in the bridge nodded “I know, move out head to the command bridge” he said calmly “sir what about the other teams” “just do it” he ordered loudly.
…..
Aboard the Taralak
Simon watched as the body was transported away and heaved a sigh of relief his men smiled and began go about their duty. Ensign Sanchez knelt down over the command chair eying it “sophisticated for it’s era and his weapon too he must have been given the best of the best” she said looking down she picked up the clay like substance “just what the hell is this” she said Tarses and the Doctor eyed it both of their eyes widened “GET AWAY NOW” he yelled she ran over to Sanchez examining her while Tarses eyed her intently pointing a gun at her “sir what did I?” “she’s clean” Simon sighed a breath of relief “I’ll explain later ensign for now I am glad” he said before turning he pointed his rifle down at the ruins a he began firing phased poloron energy at it watching increasing the intensity when nothing happened he sighed a breath of relief “it’s a founder” he told them both calmly “or at leas the remains of one” he spoke letting that sink in
…..
Aboard the Sarmiento
“sir we’re receiving a call from the derelict “ ensign Madera a young dark skinned half human who was born on one of the federations smaller colonies called “which one” Dartanis chided playfully “The unknown” she replied back smiling Dartanis nodded “very well let’s hear it” he said
“Captain Dartanis” Rainbird said “I read you” “We’ve got a problem one of my security officers is missing and “he paused “sir we believe a changeling is on board”
Dartanis sat back frowning this wasn’t good “alright Rainbird I’m initiating quarantine protocol no one is allowed off that ship until you can make sure all of your crew is accounted for..You’re on your own...I’m sorry my friend”
“Understood sir” he said “Rainbird out”
…..
Aboard the lucrehulk
“What does that mean” one of the technicians said “what does that/ mean!
Rainbird’s countenance became stone as he checked the power display on his rifle “it means we find the others find the changeling and kill it” he said coldly –before it slaughters us all- he thought
……….
Deep in the vessel the third engineering team moved with security “Rainbird to lieutenant mills is your group here “
“All in place and ready to head out sir” he said “did they leave your sight?” “no sir” he replied “alright then move forward towards the command center, don’t separate at all there’s a changeling loose and he may already have gotten ensign Fisk “ every one went silent at that “understood sir moving out”
“is that true” one whispered “said by the captain himself” he said “come on let’s get together and kill this sucker” he snapped as they moved all around them the pipes and ruinous broken pieces of scrap metal began creaking and groaning in some twisted taunting.

Re: The Tides of History (an St/Sw cross over)
I think you have the wrong font for the quote, unless William's excerpt was the extra-fine print edition.
Like the revrence the Romulans showed towards T’krell.
I really liked the movie Alien being argued as a documentry, Trek history between the 20th and 22th is pretty sparce, who knows what their is room to hide in it.

figured the culture was gonna be a mess after the events of the St movie sos..I added that in
exactly! the post apocalyptic mess they walked away from seems to have allowed for such things.sonofccn wrote: I really liked the movie Alien being argued as a documentry, Trek history between the 20th and 22th is pretty sparce, who knows what their is room to hide in it.
on another note I've been thinking of doing "Tales of the Mid Rim" side fic..basically just chronicling events that took place during the Dominion blitz that aren't central to the fic..but chronicle early battles from the perspective of various imperial and domie chars
good idea or bad?

Have nothing against it, could be a nice opertunity to have a "lower deck" or "the other guys" type episode. A feel for the everyman lost amid this epic struggle for control of an entire galaxy.Admiral Breetai wrote:on another note I've been thinking of doing "Tales of the Mid Rim" side fic..basically just chronicling events that took place during the Dominion blitz that aren't central to the fic..but chronicle early battles from the perspective of various imperial and domie chars
