Insulting someone during a debate is not a valid tactic, even if you do present information. It's just common courtesy, even if you do think the other guy is a moron.

Oh yes, I forgot: Clean debate standards never include insults or personal attacks in nearly every forum. SDN is the only place I know of that allows this. So any claims of strong debating standards existing in SDN is easily demolished by this fact alone.

50/50 is an approximation. This is a pretty small site, so we can't make a estimate. However, if it's a few thousand strong it shouldn't be 1/1000.
We can actually, obviously not everyone here voted, but enough to get a general idea of where people stand on this sight.

Well, at least among some of the active member here, the results are all across the board, with only a modest number stating that the whole war winds up a bitter stalemate. But there are at least two people who thinks the Empire outright wins easily, and a similar number who think the opposite. Do we know of a similar poll taken on SDN for a comparison?

I thought I had seen one long ago, but I'm not sure.

Then what about ASVS? Any similar polls conducted there?

Bizarre, to say the least. But not unexpected, really.

That wasn't the one I was thinking of, but I gotta say...wow. 17 people voted that it would take "100,000,000" Trek 'verses to beat the Empire. One hundred-fucking-million. That's beyond even Wong's wanking of Wars. And yet, at the same time...8...count 'em 8 people said it would take just one. And that was the next highest amount. Both ends of the poll take up 51% of the total votes with the other half going between ten and ten millions and 19 of them said it would take between 10,000 and ten million.

But, the thread itself ended up being another wasteful storage space example that SDN has.

That's ridiculous. I guess that means on my poll that 8 people thought that the Feds win period (we have 7 as of now), 1 thought that it is a tie/ Empire barely wins (we have 7 as of now), and 39 thinks the Empire wins easily (we have 2). Clearly SDN is competely unbiased in this debate.

I think there was a thread about how long it'd take for one ISD to take over the whole Federation.

Seriously, I don't see why we still keep on talking about how biased or not SDN is.

We know it is, we've all lurked there (I've posted there), and we've all seen how they react to newcomers who aren't die-hard Wars fans.
But that's ok, its their right to do so.

As long as this site doesn't turn into a mini SDN, I don't see why we should even care...

We should just go on with our debates, and leave them be.
Argue logically, not emotionally... :)

If only people from SDN can figure this out, we'd be far ahead.
