Interesting to note the retconning of the webspinner ships to be closer to the one's seen in ST:ENT, as well as the use of the NCC-1764 registry for the
Defiant, also another tie-in with ST:ENT's "In a Mirror, Darkly, parts I & II".

They seem to be replicating the error of having the ships spinning the web outside phaser range (per the dialog) yet within spitting distance (in the vfx).

Well, a possible way to get around it is that since we see the start of the web being spun on the Enterprise's viewscreen, the the web was started much further out, and then brought in closer once the Tholians realized the Enterprise was crippled.
