Dang, this really makes them look cool. I mean, hunting the fucking Borg, and controlling small black holes (the most powerful ones actually)? I guess the less writers fiddle with them, the better?

That said I think it's absurd -no offense- to think that their suits can deal with the gravity of a neutron star. That's absurd. At best it involves some super wonky special device of some kind, in which the guy sits. Or they fire something at the neutron star, make a rift and can fly through it before it collapses or something.

Again, I say they used some sort of anti-gravity technology. I would suspect maybe a subspace power transfer network of some sort with an anti-gravity emitter. Or the ship itself doing it. There's no way that suit could keep him alive in a neutron star just by being 'tough'. For one thing, his vace is showing (or part of it), so he'd have part of his face crushed in.

Then again, didn't these guys also trade blows with 8472? The one that could tear its way through Voyager's hull?

Going through a ship's hull doesn't give you Neutron Star pressure blows...
That line was utter bulls***, the kind that we humans use everyday when telling a story to impress people:

Well, the hunter may have been leaving something out.

Most likely he was making use of some sort of technology that repulsed the gravity--otherwise he would have been crushed to something resembling a very flat smear. Given that his people are advanced enough to control small black holes, I don't think this is all that much of a stretch--especially if his ship was nearby and projecting some sort of anti-gravity field to reduce the effects of the star.

What I think the Hirogen was refering to was more likely the heat (wait, are Neutron stars hot?) or other environmental issues. Otherwise, if we consider that just one suit of armor could do that, their hand guns would literally be able to turn Voyager into swiss cheese.

Armour that could allow a humanoid to survive the heat, gravity and be mobile enough to hunt in the mantle of a Neutron star would be so strong and need to boost the physical power of the wearer to such levels he could kick silver age supermans butt and punt the DS like a football.
