This only serves to strengthen my conviction that SBC is almost as bad, and perhaps some ways worse, than SDN.

The whole argument rebooting has been irking me a bit as of late too. Take the clone numbers thread on SB right now as an example of this. Some time ago Vespasian and I got into an argument about the Sector Governor thingy described in RotS, and it turned out that the claim that there was one governor per planet was bunk. But now he's happily forgotten all about that debate and re-states the same argument he made back then without so much as even referring to the previous debate. I mean, when you've been shown that you're wrong black on white, what makes you completely ignore that and restate the original position? It's like the ultimate demonstration that the debator in question has no real interest in arguing honestly and that it's all about "Star Wars has to win, always and forever!" This same rebooting is constantly done in regards to the Death Star, Telos, and pretty much everything that would threaten the six to nine extra zeros inserted into every firepower figure there is.

It's a damn shame really. You know how much fun debating stuff like this would be if it weren't for the crazy ones? Ever popped your head in and checked out the threads involving B5, Trek, Mass Effect or somesuch on SB? The debates are always fun and relaxed. The arguments are good, the people never even come close to the half-crazed "I'll brake your fingers!" attitude that Vehrec demonstrated in PM to me some time ago. It's what versus debating should be about. Instead it's turned into some quasi-religious crusade.

I agree. And your long list of examples is just further proof that both SDN and SBC lack really anything other than an environment designed to maintain a tightly knit online social clique and discourage others from entry, which as I have discussed before is not how a message board should operate, unless it was meant to be exclusive from the get-go.

Though, it could be argued that that's exactly the case with SDN, at least.

I suppose I could justify putting this thread in the "Other Websites" section (as there is much discussion of other websites) or "Reviews and Critiques" (as an in-depth discussion of a particular source) or possibly even "Rules of Evidence" section. It really is a thread that could go almost anywhere.

On the topic, I'm actually a bit surprised our poll here is unanimous so far. I thought we had more membership overlap with SDN than SBC.

Hard to do when you've only got an hour and a half at most of work to do during an 8 hour shift most days. As much as it sounds like it's great, the job actually sucks.

Right now, it's logistical work. Where I'm at, I'm the only one in the department, so I'm in charge of it, which is fine. People have always thrown repsonbility on me anyway and I'm fine working by myself. The department I share the office with is security. As anyone that has done logistics before, it can be boring with the procedural stuff, but then, there is the social aspect of the job that makes it interesting with the occassional weird thing. I'm just leaving what happened all day Friday up to the fact it was Friday, the 13th. Starting at 6:30 AM when I arrived at work, it was one weird thing after another till 3:330 PM. It was like I was the eye of this weird shit hurricane that happened around me. The only safe place all day was if you occupied the same physical space as me. But, I wasn't totally free from it, since I onitnued to combine grindhouse cafe's coffee creamer with swiss miss hot chocolate. That gives me a serious buzz (don't ask me why, the combo just does), but the buzz only last about 5-10 seconds after each drink and no buzz has ever been as strong as the first one I had with the combo.
