technobabble - speech with many futuristic technical phrases. As of Voyager, pain in the backside and often a way to make something plain simple sound complicated, or to cover up fact that writers have no clue what they are writing about.

Worf - in TNG, his only purpose was to get defeated so as to show how serious enemy of the week was. Got better in DS9, though.

subspace - two thirds of Federation technology cannot work without it

impulse drive - sublight drive that noone knows how it actually works

Yes... as much as I disagree with majority of Wong's conclusions, he did make a good cause about technobabble.

...So he compares how two different characters talk? Data, by his design, tends to lean towards more jargon because that's how his character talks. It doesn't really note the poor quality that Voyager had when they did their technobabble purely for the point of sounding smart or obscure.

There was a bit somewhere about B'Elanna talking about tricolored molten plastic...

Subspace is part of the universe, and is "...a huge honeycomb with an infinite number of cells". You manipulate it with gravity from the warp nacelles like normal space.
