Mass shadow collision in SW, and interactions with realspace

Post by Mr. Oragahn » Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:04 am

Aside from a ship in hyperspace hitting a mass shadow and somehow blowing up, do we know what are the effects on the object which cast the gravity field? Does the explosion translate into realspace?

The most obvious and immediate known effect of a mass shadow is pulling a ship out of hyperspace. This is what the Interdictor class SDs do, after a fashion, they create an artifical gravity well which creates a kind of mass shadow that pulls the target vessel from hyperspace. In the case of natural MS, they can increase the odds of a collison in real-space once the ship falls out of hyperspace. As for explosions, I cannot recall any such instance relating to a ship exploding in hyperspace and then manifesting the explosion in real-space.
