See, at no time did we have the clear indication that the capital ship were firing anything but energy bolts in the OT, and there's zero evidence of this in the PT.

Likewise, in the whole new CGI Clone Wars series thus far, I have not seen a single capital ship fire a missile, even at incoming starfighters.

It would be like a pile of merchandising books pretending the Galactica (nBSG) relies on missiles and point defense lasers and not flak and interceptors we only see in the show.

I had the impression from the AOTC ICS that the tubes on the Acclamator were for orbital bombarbment.

Given the ridiculous 200 gigaton turbolasers the Acclamator is alleged by ICS to have, it makes having the missiles rather redundant and unnecessary.

I don't particularly consider having a range of weapons available redundent. If nothing else a missile can carry a variety of payloads that a TL cannot, chemical and biological agents for example.

True enough, assuming that there is an indication of the use of concussion and proton torpedoes being used to carry those other payloads.

I couldn't tell you whether there is or not, I stopped reading the EU quite a while ago. I don't see any reason why they couldn't though, different waheads for different targets is common practice now so unless SW tech is going backwards...

Wookiepedia has quite the list of Clone War war crimes, some of them biological.

Interesting, though the entries for the weapons do not really go into the delivery method for the chemical and bioweapons used, except to note where a ship had crash landed, spreading the stone mites on one planet. I'am presuming, not having access to the story that some of the weapons were delivered possibly via a missile of some kind.

It would seem safest to deliver them via a missile, hopefully minimising your contact with whatever nasty your delivering.

Except that in the case of the Loedorvian Brain Plague, where it seems keyed towards a specific species; in this case Humans.

Err...was the CIS human free?

You know, with the exception of Dooku and (briefly) Jango Fett, there were not a lot of humans of note in the CIS. Perhaps an intentional part of Palpatine's plot?

Perhaps. I go with the idea that they are in there, tens of thousands of worlds secede from the Republic but have no humans? Kind of bizarre if you ask me and I never bought into the Palpatine hating aliens that was in the early EU. There certainly didn't seem to be a lot of prejudice against aliens in the movies.

If the CIS had consisted of alien worlds than the name Clone Wars doesn't seem to make much sense, mind you it doesn't make much sense now.

Unfortunately, the current EU seems to be trying to maintain the whole racial prejudice angle, among other things, even attempting clever retconning to do so.

Lovely. How do they justify Palpatine having a large blue alien with tentacles on his head as an assistant?

Couldn't tell you. I don't even know if that guy stayed his assistant for long after the Empire's founding.
