Uh? In three seperate instances across Voyager's path, years were shaved off. Now think about this and combine it with episodes like TNG's "The Chase", where the E-D, a top of the line starship white traversing what appears to be a significant portion of the Alpha and Beta quadrants does so in a matter of days to weeks.WhosYourData wrote:
Yes, but that's all it could expect to save, they weren't getting there in a matter of days. A shortcut can only get so short, before you have to go faster to make a difference. Conduits would make that happen.
Again, this makes no sense given the information we have. Warp drive existed before there was a Federation, perhaps by thousands of years. In addition to Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, Orion and more had warp drive before there was a Federation. All these powers seem to have a fairly impressive ability to travel about that portion of the galaxy.WhosYourData wrote: Yes but again Vulcan was still only one planet, it's a matter of organization and resources.
Yet apparently hyperspace routes were mined during the Clone Wars, and others denied to the Republic by the CIS. You'd think that the routes would be so big that such a thing is impractical, and yet... there it is.WhosYourData wrote: DS9 simply surrounded a small wormhole with mines, you can't do that with a route.
Gravitic mines also only apply in the minefield itself. There's no way to mine space, it's just too big; it would have to be a conduit.
