Respect Star Fleet Uniforms
What are Star fleet uniforms capable of? What note worthy feats do Star Fleet uniforms have?

They made the guys in early TNG look like idiots.Lucky wrote:What are Star fleet uniforms capable of? What note worthy feats do Star Fleet uniforms have?
The styles were a matter of choice on Voyager.
If ripped Kirks shirt made him unbeatable.
Oh and it was mentioned in "DS9:Let he who is without sin" that the uniforms were designed for comfort even in the most extreme environments.

They allowed Chakotey in voyager to walk close to Lava, just as if he had Jedi powers like Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mustasfar...

They do seem to offer some sort of protection to the local environment, how this extends unto the face and hands of an individual is unknown.

"Nemesis" uniforms are my favourite alongside TOS ones. As for abilities...don't seem to have any special, aside from "comfort" one, and fact that TNG and ENT -era uniforms are much less prone to "catch" objects, especially "Nemesis" era ones.

In Voyager Deadlock, a bunch of unsuspecting redshirts get shot at point blank range by phasers supposedly on kill setting, since it was a hostile boarding. Upon inspection, none of the phaser blasts penetrated the uniforms. No holes, no scratch marks, no scorch marks.

Well I kind of always assumed the reason they could just slap an arm band on, and have a full body shield was because the uniform had built in low power shield generators built in.Trinoya wrote:They do seem to offer some sort of protection to the local environment, how this extends unto the face and hands of an individual is unknown.
It seems like there are a couple of times the crew are just dropped on ice planets with nothing but a phaser and the uniform on their backs and they do okay, but I can't recall the episodes.
There is an episode where Data grabs a car that is trying to run him over, and he doesn't budge when he grabs the rear bumper. That speaks highly of Star Fleet foot wear.
I know the uniforms are padded. That should rpovide some protection from blunt objects.
I seem to recall Lore lighting Dr. Crusher's jacket on fire, but i don't recall her getting burned at least badly.

Phasers and Disruptors often do no damage to armor and clothing.StarWarsStarTrek wrote:In Voyager Deadlock, a bunch of unsuspecting redshirts get shot at point blank range by phasers supposedly on kill setting, since it was a hostile boarding. There was Voyager S3 "Displaced," where the crew are gradually beamed off by the Kyrians. Once they escape from their habitat, Tom and B'elanna hide from the pursuing Nyrians in the Argala habitat, where the temperature is -20 degrees Celsius. When Janeway finds them she comments that "they won't last long in that." Tom doesn't seem particularly bothered by it, but B'elanna, being half Klingon, rapidly starts to succumb. Later, Janeway beams herself inside to confront the Nyrian leaders, and she doesn't visibly react either.Lucky wrote:Well I kind of always assumed the reason they could just slap an arm band on, and have a full body shield was because the uniform had built in low power shield generators built in.Trinoya wrote:They do seem to offer some sort of protection to the local environment, how this extends unto the face and hands of an individual is unknown.

Kim and Chakotay had to bundle up to visit the icebound Voyager in "Timeless."
The only counterexample that springs to mind is "Darmok," where Picard is visibly uncomfortable on a cold night while Captain Dathan enjoys a warm fire.
TNG S7 "Emergence."Lucky wrote:There is an episode where Data grabs a car that is trying to run him over, and he doesn't budge when he grabs the rear bumper. That speaks highly of Star Fleet foot wear.
