I was recently reading random pages at TVtrope.com, and came across a page called Indestructible Edible. On the Indestructible Edible page there is a claim that the standard Imperial Standard Ration Bars can survive an Exterminatus, and still be just as edible as before. There are several types of Exterminati. However, the rest is nonsense, it cannot be taken literally. Otherwise men couldn't chew 'em.

So, no analysis has ever been done?

Why should we assume the ration bars are edible by humans? Space Marines can eat rocks from what I've heard. Given some of the strange and stupid stuff that happens in 40K, is giving starship armor as ration bars, and building starships out of ration bars really out of the question?
