"This includes mostly older works, such as much of the Marvel Star Wars comics, that predate a consistent effort to maintain continuity;"
The problem with this statement, if it is indeed valid, is that it describes material that would come from the 1970's and 1980's. It would also invalidate some of the Saxonian wank material as the comic strip showing the three ISDs slamming into the Executor's shields, among other things, would also be invalidated under this unusal interpretation. Since a lot of the ICS is based on this and selective other material, it would eliminate their BDZ information, or render it so low on the canon totem as to be immaterial. So by trying to get rid of the X-wing series kilojoule and terajoule quotes along with Darksaber among others, they wind up shooting themselves in the foot many times over.

In the end, it does not eliminate these materials, it only reduces them a step in canon, nor does it get rid of post-2000 material like "Vector Prime" which saw soft-cover release in July 2000 that has star destroyers unable to sufficently destroy a 20 km moon in 7 hours to save planet Sernpidal from catastrophe.
