Nope, this is the Internet, linking the entire world...
And even if it was jsut america, people may still want to try and discuss things with a semi-modicum of seriousness...
And you're really not funny...

I'm sorry if my pride in my country offended you or the masses populating the internet. I'm also sorry if you don't appreciate my sense of humor. This doesn't change the fact that I am free in and I thought this was America.

You're only allowed to go off topic if you bring Trek or SW in threads where they were not relevant.

I agree with it. I VASTLY agree with it. With all the VAST I can muster.

Don't quote Supernatural from the CW to me. I live by that show.

is that the one where it's like what if superman were in high school, and it starts with him as a freshman, only he's played by a male model who was already 30 years old at the time? and then something about lex luthor had a dad, but it was really the guy from the dukes of hazzard? and then pete eats the stride gum and gets super-stretchy powers?

Nope. That was Smallville by the CW. George Reeves did it better.

Supernatural is the show you gotta be smart to watch. Boomshakalacka!

Your pride in your country doesn't botter me at all...
Everyone living in a country where freedom and individual rights are valued should be proud of their country...
I am of mine...

You are free, and I am also free to tell you you are not funny, and that you are polluting the threads and being unproductive here just as much as Jasonb is...

this is something that has NEVER been clear. does humor really count as 'unproductive' in the sense that it is damaging the board? take this thread for example. was any debate actively halted by rain trying to be funny? do we have members who read his posts about back to the future and thought, 'well, i guess that does it for debate in this thread. back to the future is clearly the new topic of discussion. sad, because i had many interesting facts and opinions to offer, and now i must decline.' if you have a post which is CLEARLY meant to be nothing more than humor, and which does nothing to harm active debate, is this something which needs to be moderated? i know that humor is not 'productive'. but if it is appreciated, and not harmful, why the iron fist?
for five years i've been on this board, and after about 2 weeks, everything i had to offer the debate itself was spent. but i like this board, and i still find the debate very interesting, so i lurk and if an opportunity for humor presents itself i generally jump on it and hope for the best. now, for the sake of clarity, assuming that i am not aiming at any particular person and assuming that a joke post is clearly meant to be humorous and could conceivably be amusing to at least SOME members, and finally, assuming that the post does not derail the original topic of the thread and is at least nominally on topic, is that an infraction worthy of an official warning?
also, how about joke threads? does 'unproductive' even apply there? if the whole point of the thread is provoking laughter, and one person laughs, isn't that productive? and if the problem is that the joke thread does nothing to further the debate in whatever section it's posted in, then what if it is posted in some other section? for instance, the 'other' section?

All right, Praeo, Mojo, TRK777... knock it off. None of this is productive or funny and it no longer serves any point in this thread.

Jumping in "serious" threads, once in a while, with humorous comments, is, as far as I'm concerned, ok...
Jumping in every thread with some doubtfully humourous comments and bringing no productive comments is not...
I have gone overboard with Jasonb, I asmit, because I find him to be worse than SWST...
TRK777 is also just polluting threads...

This is the last I'll write about it...

And Mike, you have given us a warning to drop it, this post may be considered NOT dropping it, so if you feel I deserve an official warning, feel free to give me one...
I defer to your judgement...
