Roleplaying question

Post by Praeothmin » Mon May 14, 2012 6:19 pm

What is the worst decision made, or action taken, by a player in your Roleplaying group at one time or another?

Examples from my gaming group:
-The Shadowrun hostage situation from Khas's D&D Mayhem thread...

-Shadowrun, same player from hostage situation, same character: In the middle of a flight from Quebec City to Seattle while escorting client, goes to the back and puts on his parachute, then comes back out in front of the client, get this, to show just how secure the flight was...

-Same mission, in Seattle, fight on the roof of a 3 story tall building, jumps off the roof still wearing his parachute, which he opens up hoping it would slow his fall, resulting in two broken legs...

once, while gming heroes, i was irritated by my brother continuously attempting to derail the game's loooooooong ongoing storyline, and so brought in 25 robot squirrels which forced themselves into his anus and then self-destructed. due to his character being nigh-invulnerable, he was not physically damaged, but the blast propelled him into orbit. having no method of flight, he was forced to wait for someone to come and save him.

of course that derailed the game completely for the night anyway.

Where to begin....

Errr.. hmm...

It's been a long time... lets see here.. in order I can remember.

*****

*door opens* *Player attacks person walking through the door* *it happens to be the house maid*

player retires character, wants to bring in new character killing the old one. Old character wins initiative, one shot kills the new character, resulting in a character that lived, at best, 3 seconds

*player ignores the giant bone golem destroying the party and goes and attacks the inactive warforge unearby. The Warforge wakes up since it's there for purely defensive purposes and proceeds to damage the player something fierce. Player decides the bone golem may have been the better option, charges it (player is playing a wizard), bone golem tosses the character into a river, character drowns*

player is informed that, and I quote, "If you go out there, you won't make it 10ft." Subsequent quote was, "I was wrong, she made it 15" (this was in regards to charging a fort)

Player brings in character in a battle against the party, fighting for the other side.

Players choose to not wait the extra day to turn one of them back from a baleful polymorph... that poor character became a pet for one of the bad guys.

Player challenges the entire legal system of an empire, as well as the honor of a judge (who is the high lord of the city) and the local sheriff, resulting in a duel at noon. Party rigs the fight so he has a +20 to hit, and if he hits he will auto kill the sheriff. Player in the duel drops his weapons and armor the moment the fight starts.

"If you ever sleep at that tavern.. you will die."

"Lets all sleep at the tavern!"

*head desk*

Oh god.. I have so many.... I'll need to go actually look it all up..

Here are some more:

-Players (including me, wasn't the DM at the time) torture an NPC for information, each torture being more grueling than the previous one. NPC dies from wounds, never having revealed anything. DM looks at us and says: "Did any of you realize you never asked him anything?"

-Player is a grenade-happy Troll with a grenade launcher, and a belt full of grenades. Standing in a narrow alley between two warehouses, sees target on rooftop, so fires grenade at enemy... And misses.
Grenade falls back on him (it was a High-Explosive kind), which he soaks (he's a Troll), but then detonates all other grenades... He died!

-Enemy mage casts fireball in a room, thief's only reflex is tojump out the window... Of the top room of the tower they were in, 100 feet high... Barely survived!

-Group decides to defend village from unknown big bad guy, find a cave, and thinking to lure bad guy out while the warriors will pounce on him from above, same thief stands in front, saying "Is there someone inside?"
Dragon's breath killed him...

In some sort of D&D game, played some proud rogue archer, a chick. Another dude was playing a bulky man and, at some point after coming out of a small stone house lost in the middle of a forest, he had his character try to reach for my character's rack. Obviously, I did what a woman would do, and "punched" him. The GM wanted to have fun and see how much damage that would do. So I rolled the dice and got a critical hit. The GM hesitated, we laughed save for the bloke playing the warrior, and with what he had in front of him, the GM couldn't come with anything better than "well, you sent his head rolling on the grass. Who's going to carry it now?" One player on the table was a wee bit pissed off I remember.

Hero is in a starship that has several chemical tanks. One of which hides a secret high power plasma laser gun that he wants for his pirate ship. Him and his men remove their spacesuit helmets because there is plenty of air in the compartment above the tank that holds the gun. So our hero chooses a laser torch to quickly get the gun out as the patrols are on their way and our hero must hurry. The tank that hides the weapon is a hydrogen fuel cell.
