Size and Star Wars (blog post)
After leafing through Hyperspace "exclusive" material for a little while, I remembered that I had a blog as one of the perks. Hadn't posted it for a while, so I wrote up a few thoughts on size and Star Wars.
I posited - and you may find this disputable - that every fan dispute in Star Wars somehow comes down to a question of bigness. Quick! Prove me wrong.

SW is a franchise which really made things bigger, on many levels.
Then you have questions about the coolness of Sith and Jedi.
The Sith I prefer personally? Maybe not the best, but Darth Maul.
Best Jedi? Qui-gon Jinn. More than a great loss for Obi-Wan in universe, I'm certain Neeson's charisma would have improved the overall acting a lot.

At least as far as the Versus-type debates go. It always seems to be a matter of size and power with them. Biggest starships, most powerful weapons, and the Jedi and Sith are all-powerful.Jedi Master Spock wrote:After leafing through Hyperspace "exclusive" material for a little while, I remembered that I had a blog as one of the perks. Seems like they're trying to over compensate for something...Mike DiCenso wrote:At least as far as the Versus-type debates go. It always seems to be a matter of size and power with them.
It was really nice of them to grant other sci-fis such large and slow moving targets with ineffectual reactors...Biggest starships,
Of course, when the best parts of your franchise is at best, a decent sci-fi film, and only makes up 2/6th of your franchise, 2/6th of the franchise is sub-par sci-fi, and the rest is so bad that it's used as psychological torture for terrorists, you kind of have to find SOMETHING to hold onto.most powerful weapons,
Yes, the all powerful Jedi that got their asses handed to them by guys who thought it was a good idea to charge a charging enemy when they have automatic energy weapons, and that such tactics were deemed as stupid and suicidal in World War I, where they used considerably less advanced weaponry.and the Jedi and Sith are all-powerful.
I find it particuarly amazing how apparently one Sith Lord is able to reduce the "pre-cog" of every Jedi in the entire galaxy to an extent that they all become a thousand times more incompetent in order to die.
The best part however, is that the Jedi Council is considered "wise" despite the fact that most of them can't understand half the crap they're saying, are gulliable, and think that by keeping their Jedi's from having a love life is a way to keep them from not falling into the dark side.
I suppose that's something that Warsies and their Jedi gods have in common.;D

You know what I find odd about Star Wars? The fact that the games are miles ahead of novels and even movies when it comes to both stories told and enjoyment derived.
Knights of the Old Republic, which many (including me) say is say is leagues ahead of the prequel trilogy. Tie Fighter, Rebel Assault, Jedi Knight, Battlefront...
I could go on forever.
What does that have to do with big numbers? I have no idea.

That the 16th level theif eladrin will kick the ass of a second level dragonborn monk with a rusty dagger?=Dl33telboi wrote:You know what I find odd about Star Wars? The fact that the games are miles ahead of novels and even movies when it comes to both stories told and enjoyment derived.

Joke or not, I don't think it too helpful to bait an entire section of the fan community.Mith wrote:...that was meant to be taken as a joke.=)
