Carrie Fisher has Passed Away

Post by Mike DiCenso » Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:13 am

In yet another tragic loss to all of us in the Star Trek and Star Wars community, Carrie Fish who played the iconic roll of Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy and reprised her roll of the character for The Force Awakens, has died at 60 following a heart attack while returning home on an airplane just a few days ago:

Like Kenny Baker and others, she will be sorely missed.

My wife actually got to meet her a couple of weeks ago at a book signing in London. Spur of the moment decision to go and do it. Really can't believe this has happened :(

I met Carrie Fisher about ten years ago at a San Diego Comicon and even back then you could see that her health was not the greatest and so as saddened as I was about this happening, I'm also not very surprised about it either. :-(

Well hell, as if this couldn't have been any more tragic, Carrie Fisher's mother, Debbie Reynolds died of an apparent stroke just a day after and while planning the funeral for her daughter:

Horrible, just horrible. :-(

2016 really is some kind of dark year for all sorts of stars of older generations (movies and music). That weighs a lot on the morale if you think about it.

It's not just the older generation, but this year also saw the unfortunate loss of Anton Yelchin, who was a very young and rising star with great potential. His death the result of a very freak accident.

Yes, true. That one too.
Did the Mayans say anything about 2016?
