Hypermatter Reactors make a come back

Apparently a new book called Tarkin makes reference to a hypermatter reactor inside the Deathstar and because the new books are canon hypermatter reactors are now canon.

The designers are also debating the optimum configuration for the kyber crystal assembly. The delays owe as much to their bickering as to production setback"

The hypermatter already was present in the OT:ICS.
It's Saxton who acquired the term and gave it a new meaning, and had so many ships use hypermatter cores.
What is going to happen is probably what existed before the Saxtonian fiasco: the DS has a hypermatter core, and that's all.
In the end, it's a convenient name to describe a core that's by all means exceptional. Plus since it might involve hyperspace alongside the kirby crystals, I guess it's a good fit for now.
I'd be really worried if they started to reproduce any of the nonsense attributed to the concept of hypermatter cores by Saxton.

1) Too bad it doesn't tell us which version of hypermatter reactor they are going with.

2) This quote tells us Hypermatter reactors aren't all that common. If Hypermatter reactors were the standard, Tarkin would have never bothered stating it was a hypermatter reactor and simply called it a reactor.

It also indicates that Death Star does use a sort of hyperspace technobabble to destroy planets as opposed to "standard" DE firepower.
