Lightsabre fan films and VFX... screw AOTC & ROTS

Post by Mr. Oragahn » Sat Mar 17, 2007 12:15 am

I really don't know about you on this point, but while I found the special effects for the blades particularily nice for The Phantom Menace, it seems to me that they became worse after that flick, like hastily pasted on screen with some cheap scripted post prod software routine.

I remember downloading those post TPM fan films like a crazy. Duel, lightsabre duel, Sith this and Jedi that. Though many fight had poor choreographies, a couple of them had excellent sabre effects, especially in terms of how the light, the colours, the contrast and luminous aura were made.

The FX are nice. Mmh, the blades aren't always perfectly lined up, but cool nonetheless. I have a soft spot for the orange/copper/amber blade, from the lightsabre used by that brown haired guy wearing an ER green suit.

That was my super useless post of the day.

Hey, it's Ryan Wiebers work. What do you expect, beside absolute perfection? :)

Well, I have to say that is some rather impressive stuff. I’ve watched the clips on those links you provided and then started looking for more stuff like that! That was fun to watch! I never imagined that something like that was out there.
It maybe was a super useless post but I really appreciate it.
