With all that flak and droids exploding mere feet away from R2, this would mean that this astrodroid had super uber armour, able to withstand either kilotons, megatons or gigatons of power, depending on the asinine claim of the day.
Oh, that's because they got energy abosrbing neutronium. Its not as good as the neutronium that was found on that moon, but it's still okay, which means it's used in everything from fighter hulls to droids. And especially in repair droids because they may do something stupid and break open the reactor and absorb all the energy from a fighter that's just sitting on the ground and there'd be enormous explosions.
