(sorry, it's on Croatian, but you can use Google translate or something lese). Either way, article says that CBS is going to remaster The Next Generation, similar in way TOS was remastered; that is, improved VFX. What do you think? If they do it, I think it might happen that I start feeling nostalgic for old orange phasers and torpedoes, and whatever anacronisms there are.

Damn those Ferengi!
Some effects suck, but others are far more than good enough.

Google chrome seems to be able to translate it fairly well:
After CBS in 2006. was started in remasteriranje Original Series (TOS) , it seems that finally my turn and the remastered version of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) .

Listed information is first published by Bill Hunt with an extremely popular site Digital Bits , without referring to unnamed sources, according to which "TNG Remastered really going on." It is alleged that the remastered TNG its premiere on Netflix in the autumn, and in addition to broadcasting TNG in a standard format. Remember, Netflix has recently confirmed that in July the whole TNG broadcast in standard definition. In addition, states are to be remastered TNG could run through the Epix's.

"We believe that the entire The Next Generation of HD is very certain, along with digitally enhanced effects. Of course, in addition to Syndicate and streaming, the end result of all this could be the Next Generation: Remastered Blu-Ray, "the Digital Bits.

Although TrekMovie has not yet been able to obtain independent confirmation of this information, the claim that CBS has for years considered remasteriranje TNG's starting since Comic Cona in 2007., when CBS announced that it conducted a test remasterizaciju few staff and TNG. The following information remasterizaciji TNG's statement last year was one of CBS's board members, John Van Cittersa , which is in talks to TrekMovie confirmed he still thinking about that project, but no concrete plans and budgets necessary for the operationalization of the project.

Van Citters the same time stressed that the remasteriranje TNG's technically be much more demanding than was the case with the TOS-om, since the entire series during its broadcast was recorded on film and then transferred to SD video, they were then added to the visual effects. Therefore, according to some, should resort to the original film negatives series and then mount them in a manner identical to that of the original installation. Only after the specified part of the job was done, it could be accessed on the work processed visual effects. All of the above requiring more time, but much larger budget than was the case with the project remasterizacije TOS.

If the information on remasteriranju TNG's true, this project could mean an introduction to something bigger (the new Star Trek series?), Just as he remasterizacija TOS was an introduction to the eleventh Star Trek film. Anyway, SF Centre will closely monitor developments and inform you about all the news.

The article Picard is refering to is based on this one here at TrekMovie.

If they want to keep the remastered FX to a minimum, all they have to do is some touch up work, like correcting gaffees and bloopers such as the E-D in "Encounter at Farpoint" firing a beam from the Captain's Yacht instead of the phasers, and in "Darmok" where the E-D shoots a phaser from it's forward photon torpedo launcher.
