Why did USS Enterprise D in Yesterday Enterprise timeline not deploy fighters? We know they had shuttlebays. Only reason I can think off is that their weapons do against ship face. Or for some unknown reason USS Enterpise D did have any.

In Trek, fighters are cannon fodder, largely used only in desperation and when they have a chance of doing something. They'd have been of little to no use in that battle, a battleship vs. battlecruiser slugfest. Perhaps if there had been some regular small KBoPs around the situation would've been different and fighters could've harried the KBoPs.

Problem that arguments is that every minute or second matter. Even fighter bought few minutes by delay the Kligon warships it could made different. If the Klingon ships even target them. Besides we saw effect Star Trek shatter mirror.
