It is, but the nature of the ship isn't indicative of anything. I could claim that Stargate's 304s all have teratons of firepower because a 304 deployed the Horizon MIRV.Mike Dicenso wrote: Whatever you want to claim is going on, it is still a rather impressive display of firepower from rather commonly available ST capital ships and weaponary.
Keep? I never ignore it, but you ignore that it still requires some hefty amounts of matter and antimatter, and that the effects of those reactions are actually predictable, in that they make big, flashy and blinding booms. However we see nothing of that. Also you keep forgetting that there are ways of producing that level of firepower using matter-antimatter,...
I'm having an issue to see the link between the nature of weapons and power production, but if I get anything of what you say, notice that when they fire at the planet, the Cardassian ships also fire the yellow beams, which are seen to generate the large "waves" on their own. Yet those ships don't have the advanced power sources of the Romulan warbirds. So yes, DET is moot since it's obvious technobabble principles are involved.... and the fact the all the ships used the Romulan quantum singularity power technology, make any DET issues moot.
It is equally tiring to point ou that when it makes zero sense, so be it. TOS has such silliness, Voyager also had a Delta Flyer II which its overloading warpcore that would threaten ships in space in a way that's beyond absurd. There are times the writers just throw big numbers without thinking about it.I'm not saying they may not have used any special weaponary, but the attempts to dismiss what was said and done in TDiC are getting a bit tiresome.
While the visuals can be rationalized (at pain), the computer estimation is not making a single nut of sense unless you have to understand "destroy" in totally new ways, largely related to exotic abilities to some weapons of elements seen or used in Star Trek at some point.
Is that a joke? Special torpedoes could be filled with NDF stuff for all I care, and phasers and disruptors have shown beyond the shadow of any doubt that NDF does exist, and are actually good at triggering nonsensical chain reactions.Your attempst at claiming magic NDF are not highly substantiated given what we know about how phasers and torpedoes work.
Which I did, if you would read the thread in question. You wouldn't even point this out, since it certainly does not help you at all. Protomatter boosted NDF weapons would be absolutely useless against vessels which are shielded and which hulls are known to be well resistance against NDF, as most hulls in Trek are. Anything special they'd gain from protomatter and NDF would be almost entirely neutered, only leaving whatever DET component to do damage, if it still can. It would explain why those Cardassian and Romulan warships were completely owned by the Jem'Hadar bug fighters. And the other fact of the matter is that you have to consider that the shields of opposing vessels are capable of taking the punishment from such weapons, even if it is just one or two shots.
Unless you wish to go for a contradiction and support a remarkably outlandish claim that such bugs could cope with high gigaton/teraton level phasers and torps or something like that...
