But kills them. Meaning it can bypass uniform, at least in your logic. Meaning armor penetration quality is irrelevant. Even if we ignore numerous heat-rocks-till-they-glow incidents. And as said, thread necromancy (replying in a thread older than 1 month) is generally avoided, althought I was quite necromancer myself.

Could you please describe the circumstances behind this? Was the intention to kill "redshirts", or stun them? As I recall in that particular episode, the Vidians board one of the two Voyagers, and the stun several crew members so that they can harvest the organs. It makes no sense for them to use a weapon on kill that will disrupt or otherwise risk ruining the very tissue and organs they seek to use, now doesn't it?StarWarsStarTrek wrote:In Star Trek Voyager: Deadlock, phaser beams hitting unarmored redshirts do not even penetrate the red uniforms of the targets.
However, we have seen multiple times phasers burn through someone, or leave serious burns on their bodies, like this poor chap below in the series of images from "A Message in a Bottle":

So, would you like to provide a little more context there, SWST?

Lets not forget the Takaran in TNG: "Suspicions" who had a hole litterally burned through him, and then was subsequently vaporized on the second shot.
