Why are there no smilies on this board?
Seriously even though I have the smilies option enabled I've noticed there are none here! How it comes?

Well, I started off with smilies disabled on this board. For a little while, I was thinking about recoloring the default set, or coding up a custom set, but I wound up never doing that.
Honestly, I haven't missed smilies, but if enough people would like them, and we could maybe get a nice set that doesn't clash too badly with the board color scheme, I am perfectly willing to install them.

I think "standing out quite well" is very close to "clashing" - yellow compared with violet and lavender accents? - but actually, it shouldn't be terribly hard to just change the color.
However, to play devil's advocate, Tyralak has managed to remind me of an old hypothesis of mine: The wink smiley is the internet equivalent of the traditional Southern US "bless his/her heart." Discuss!

I disagree, but only because they have different intentions.Jedi Master Spock wrote:I think "standing out quite well" is very close to "clashing" - yellow compared with violet and lavender accents? - but actually, it shouldn't be terribly hard to just change the color.

The "Bless his/her heart" is supposed to be an indicator that they are a good person but...
The wink is to show the subject of your insult that you are joking.
