Omega and the Strek-v-swars forum

Post by GStone » Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:40 pm

I talked to him today and he said he's been busy the last few months and that's why it hasn't been put up yet. So, we now need someone to take it over. Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now, even though I had volunteered to take it when the discussion first came up. Things are different now with my job and they're changing again and I won't have the time.

That being said, I think it should be taken by someone of the pro-trek side or a netural party. We've already got SB.com and SDN controlled by the other side. It'd be nice to have our side in control of this one, especially since it started out with being run by our side.

I've said this before, I believe, but I'll say it again now that Omega has woken up:

I'm quite willing to host the strek-v-swars forums, at least in archive form. I believe I have the space and bandwidth. However, I can't realistically spare the time to run it as a separate active forum with its own rules, population, etc., at the same time that I'm running this website and its forum and wiki.

Either way, it'll be good to have access to it again.

An archive which can be linked to is clearly the best choice imho.

The lack of even an archived version of the STrek-v-SWars forum has become intolerable to me. In my opinion, memories of that forum's discussions (which were occasionally excellent and are often remembered to be so) not only stifle present discussions due to the feeling of retreading, but also stifle further discussion and examination because the original discussions aren't available.

It was reported in July that Omega frequented SCN, and I am now seeking him out there.

I move that it be agreed that Omega retains full rights to actually re-open the forum for new posts per whatever agreement he had with the STrek-v-SWars fellows and in keeping with the creation of his own site (linked to elsewhere), but it is my intent to secure an archival version which myself or JMS can display but keep closed.

Updates when available.

<half-joke>

Check StarDestroyer.Net . . . if he ever went there they'll have posted his e-mail address, whois'ed his IP, and posted aerial photos of his house.

Anyway, I signed up again at SCN but I don't see where he's been active there under a name I recognize. I'll try more later this evening.

I just saw him logged in at SCN, but he left. He didn't post anything and there's nothing new in my inbox.

We'll catch him eventually.

Edit: He's signed up as Omega. That's the name he used to reply to me before.
