Re: STrek-v-SWars Forum Pieces
So I went ahead and made a Part II blog post, but as I was about to hit the button some long-dormant neuron in my senile brain twitched a bit, reminding me of the fact that I had many of the more interesting threads saved somewhere.
And, I was able to find them.
I'm going to fiddle with the links and such so they work better, and post them ASAP in the Obsidian Order section.

I've never understood where the "shield glow" is shown when Alderaan is shot? It's like the people claiming shields never saw a picture of a planet from space, and it gets worse when you look at planets like Tatooine.2046 wrote:So I went ahead and made a Part II blog post, but as I was about to hit the button some long-dormant neuron in my senile brain twitched a bit, reminding me of the fact that I had many of the more interesting threads saved somewhere.

The pity is that some threads had several pages worth of chatter yet I could only reach a single one of them.

I've been browsing some of the threads you linked to and ended opening several tabs of the same exact page. This was a five pages long thread, so I tried to click on the other pages's numbers but they weren't archived, or the links didn't work.

Just making sure I had nothing wrong. I presume you mean the Wayback thing where it archived an Alderaan shield thread like 20 times.
The last link I gave will take you to my version where I have that thread saved. In fact, boom: http://www.st-v-sw.net/Obsidian/STrekvS ... shield.htm

I think that was this thread. Good thing, thanks.2046 wrote:Just making sure I had nothing wrong. I presume you mean the Wayback thing where it archived an Alderaan shield thread like 20 times.

I don't think I noticed this post when it went up.
Some interesting things there, especially as we look towards the possibility of archiving this forum.
Some of those "single pages" of threads are huge.
I don't remember hearing that GStone had a copy of the forum files. I guess he hasn't been active here since 2009.

Re: STrek-v-SWars Forum Pieces
Does anyone remember something about maybe how they 'rebooted' the forum early on?
I ask because, as a total digital hoarder, I have been going through an embarrassingly large set of unsorted files and have come across even more posts from 2004, which predates most of what I have. However, based on the filenames of the zips (and also the fact that the Off Topic subforum nonsense was saved), I'm fairly sure I didn't save them, and I have some vague notion that maybe they did before rebooting it and gave me a copy back then.
Or I'm just making things up in my head . . . either-or.
Anywho, I'll at least upload the zips as-is soon, and hopefully will one day find time to make the edits needed to add them to the Obsidian Order Project page more properly.
