Something I've always found curious about the EU view of hyperdrives is why they separate their manipulation of space and time. When you alter one, you alter the other, but why would they need to worry about 2 systems? If one failed, the other would keep working. So, either you alter space and don't restrain time, making you age much faster or you are aging with the rest of the universe, but don't go anywhere? I don't understand why someone would deliberately separate the two.
