Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Post by AnonymousRedShirtEnsign » Fri Feb 16, 2007 8:36 am

I just got the new issue of Game Informer and this was the featured game. In case you don't know, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in new game that will be coming out November 2007 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 (there are also versions of the game with the same story and name on the PS2, PSP, and DS, though they lack the cool new stuff that is the focus of the next-gen versions).

What makes this game special?
1. George Lucas has been highly involved in at least the story aspect of it, so I'm not sure where it fits into SW canon, since it has multiple ending, but there is a book and that picks one of them. The article also stated that this is the next chapter in the SW saga, and that the story is offical.
2. It has crazy awesome force powers.
3. It has some new game systems, like really advanced AI and hyper-realistic physics (Jar Jar goes splat differently against mental, stone, wood, etc.).

Your character is Vader's secret apprentice, who he is using to hunt down the remaining Jedi and eventually overthrow Palpatine, though there is supposed to be a lot more to the story than that. The idea comes from Vader asking Luke to join him and defeat the Emperor, sort of a what if Luke isn't the first person Vader asked to do this.

So, anyone else read the article? Any thoughts on this? I think it is relevent to another thread going here.

In terms of reliable data, a good combo would be to use the book plus any cutscene that matches the book.

However, I'm curious here. Is that apprentice of an apprentice described as a Sith padawan, or the equivalent, or as the EU's traditionnal random Dark Jedi?

Is Vader already a Sith Lord, Lord as master, by that time?

The apprentice is currently referred to as the apprentice (Donald Trump isn't a boss AFAIK, though he might have been one of the Rancors that Shaak Ti has fight you), though he will have a real name in the game (unlike the Exile from KotOR 2). It is in between RotS and ANH, so Vader is the lesser of the two Sith Lords.

Supposedly Vader looking for an apprentice is because both he and the Emperor are dissatisfied with one another; The Emperor is unhappy that Vader is a walking wound not as strong as he wanted, and Vader realizes what an old liar Palps turned out to be. The Darth Vader story periodical that came out after RotS claims that its like a married couple cheating on one another (eewww!)
