DEAR GOD WHY?!
I seem to recall a few EU stories I can't remember the names of that had huts surviving and making full recovers from things like multiple blaster bolt hits, or getting half their head cut off.

Zero's mom is just a hut large enough to eat Jabba whole, what's the big deal?

Now, Zero's girlfriend made me sick. She was sickening once she started flirting.
To be fair, she knew she was going to be shooting him and she was working for Jabba, so it might have been packing more heat. That would probably be why we see a much bigger hole, as opposed to lower yield blasters.

It's not like we haven't seen that level of firepower before. I seem to recall Cad Bane making a nice big hole through a senator.

I was just thinking about the fact the EU tends to portray huts as being very hard to kill, and here we had a hut just shot once, and it died. It's not like they wouldn't be shooting to kill in the EU.

The fact Zero was shot on screen and killed by his girlfriend really hurts the "Oh it's just a kid's show" argument. Just about everything about the episode hurts that argument.

New episode, my thoughts:

Character Models: Ashoka's and Anakin's new models looked pretty good. It also appears that there has been some time when we first saw her, given she goes through puberty. However, we don't know when this is. She looks to be 15, maybe 16 years old, though it's hard to tell with an alien species. Assuming she was 13 when the war started, this could be two or three years after.

Vs. Debates Info: After 1-3 years of war, the Republic is going bankrupt. In order to solve this, they must de-regulate the bank.

Story: Shit. Not only was it more boring political bullshit that I can't stomach (DEAR GEORGE AND WRITERS: YOU CAN'T WRITE POLITICS! DON'T BOTHER TRYING!), but it's made worse by the fact that we have the whole "it's not a black and white situation!" shoved down our throats.

This story was just fucking lazy. First off, having Ashoka talking to a young man her age shows us nothing how the Seperatists aren't all evil. And they didn't even do anything to prove this; they just told us this and expected it to work. How about some sort of fucking plot you lazy bums? Two minutes of fucking dialogue and another two minutes hamfisting spread throughout the episode does not make a good point.

The problems with the story here are plainly obvious. It's far too complicated and requires that we be in more than one place. The problem is that we have the androids sneaking into Coruscant and the politics. The two situations are so far removed from the other that we have to spend too much time split between two threads, rather than growing one. To an extent they are connected as they do impact the other, but that's about it.

The answer here is easy; the Seperatist should have come to Coruscant, maybe under the claim of talking peace. Be it public or not, you just need to get Ashoka there and have them discover the plot to sabotage the power. Ashoka, hidden villian, and moral-lesson-of-the-day work hard to stop the plot. Hidden villian betrays them, but Moral-lesson-of-the-day and his mother save them or whatever, though they fail to stop the bombs from going off.

I have to say, the display of Season 3 is really bad. Season 2 had some political stinkers, especially with some of the Mandalore ones, and Season 1 seemed to have them more as fillers, but now it's just a shitfest of dumb. 70% of season 3 thus far has been nothing but politics and a side of action if you're lucky. Those remaining three were the two Rookie episodes (which were alright) and the Ziro episode (which was meh...).

The rest is contrived shit. And it's starting to wear on my nerves. I mean fuck, how many episodes has Anakin, the main fucking character, been in that actually stars him? I mean yes, he's lame, but Jesus, at least pretend to care.

Anakin isn't the main character of SW:TCW. He is just one of many characters the stories focus on.

I do agree that the political aspects could use some better writers.

Season 3 Episode 9

Padme talks Ahsoka into helping her go visit an old friend who was a senator, but who's planet joined the CIS.

Mean while General Gevious sends battle droids disguised as cleaning droids to Coruscant at the request of the Banking clan
________
The Republic is going bankrupt from the Clone War, and they feel they may need to deregulate the banks in order to get the money they claim to need. Why would they need to deregulate the banks as apposed to simply changing the regulations? Is the Republic so hard up for money they would not be able to get a lone?

Several senators want deregulation so they can make more money (Banking clan, and trade fed), and talk of killing Padme, but decide killing her won't help them.

The Banking clan has clients on both sides of the Clone war!

Official meetings with separatists is illegal because the Republic thinks it will give the CIS credibility even thought the CIS is possibly at the time of the episode almost as big as the republic, and has a military on par with the Republic. It seems there is no legal way for the Republic to talk to the CIS. How can they hope to end the war ever?

The Banking clan senator propose arranging an attack on Coruscant in order to scare people into deregulating the banks. Padme needs a Jedi, and even Jedi can't get to the CIS worlds legally.

The Banking clan, Techno union, Trade fed, and their CIS counterparts can't honestly expect the war to go on forever just so they can make a buck.? Heck they seemed to be making a large profit during peace time with their seeming monopolies. It does not make sense.

Jedi have special clearance to travel to neutral worlds. How is the Banking clan and Trade fed doing business with CIS worlds legally?

Padme's friend says many separatists see the Republic as the one who started the war. I'm not sure how someone can think that, but I may just be blocking out Ep. 2 and 3 because they are the worst of the six?

Ahsoka seems to be hit on a lot. It might help if she didn't dress in such revealing outfits.

It's interesting that the CIS was so willing to go to peace talks.

I do wonder why they would assume the CIS was lying about wanting peace given the attack would have logically been planned without the CIS senate knowing, and well in advance.
_____

To get through customs during a war all you need to do is wear a hood that doesn't even hide your face. This seems to show a limit to a B-1's visual capabilities.

The disguised battle droids had for once been given blaster proof armor. I think this is the first time we see such an armor, and these droids were walking bombs.

A single generator seems to power all of Coruscant in a world where there are fusion reactors the size of a gallon milk jug.

Season 3 Episode 10

Senators are being threatened and attacked, and Padme is trying to stop the senate from passing a bill to take out a lone from the banking clan.
______

Is the Banking clan part of the Republic? There was some dialog that confused me.
______

Do to deregulation the Banking Clan will be charging the Republic 25% interest rather then the 10% interest before the regulations were removed. The Republic would not be able to repay the 25% interest, or at least have a very hard time.

The Republic wanted the loan to purchase 5,000,000 more clones.

The Banking Clan representative said the CIS had taken out a loan to purchase 3,000,000 more battle droids. Even if it was a lie it was considered believable.

At one point it appears that clones = Republic troops, but later Bale wrote a speech that made it sound like the Republic had non-clone and Non-jedi troops.

A senator who looked like he was from Dac stated that senators rarely speak with their constituents, and Padme could not disagree.

I may have misheard it, but it sounded like the Republic at least paid for people's utilities(water, electricity and such).

In spite of senators being threatened and attacked they do not give the senators body guards, and the senators go for walks at night on dark barely lit streets by themselves.
______
Police droids can be be overpowered by flesh bags.
______
Bale is attacked in a parking lot, it appears he was expecting it, and hits a a button on a tiny device to signal the police. There is a bit of a shoot out. During the shootout one of the bounty hunters tries to escape on his speeder, hits a police car, and goes flying until he hit the concrete. The fall was only what would have been expected if you did the same thing with a motorcycle in the real world, but the bounty hunter may have died on screen.

Bale being the target tries to get away in a speeder, but the speeder get shot a couple of times, and crashes into a concrete column. Bale needed to go to the hospital, and Padme had to give his speech.

Do we ever see speeders with seatbelts? The speeder Bale was in certainly did not have anything like air bags.

You missed a critical statement made in Padame's speech at the end of the episode. She clearly mentions her support for the clone and non-clone troops fighting the war. This pretty much clinches what we've been speculating on for quite a while now that the clones are supplementary troops, not necessarily the bulk. So it seems that the oft reviled 3 million Clone trooper number is valid, like it or not, especially as an additional 3 million droids and 5 million clones were seen as legit numbers to supplement existing troop strengths on both sides.

What's also interesting, aside from the bankrupting of the Republic, is that the Republic has now been established to be a very socialist state. Cuts to government-funded education programs, utilties funding, ect. One other interesting thing is how Padame was able to shrug off any charges of what would be considered in real-life as grand larceny theft of the young couple's speeder bike just simply because she is a Senator.

I didn't miss it actually. The episode seemed some what contradictory to me.

One of the senators seemed to be talking as if the clones were the only combat troops, and it seems like the scenes of people dyeing in combat is only clones.

We have to take into account that the speech was meant to touch people's hearts at least as much a their brains, and we have seen several captains or admirals who are not clones or jedi serving on Republic warships so that actually would covers the non-clones and non-jedi in the speech. When you take into account the numbers batted around it is likely the clones are the large majority of the Republic's troops.

3,000,000 more battle droid

5,000,000 more clones

This has to be a nightmare for certain waries.

I seem to recall Darklighter saying the Empire was nationalizing all the companies.

It's actually quiet understandable when you take certain things into account.

Padme believed her life was in danger.

Lots of senators seem to have been receiving threats on their lives.

At least personal friends who are senators were attacked just days at most before.

The guys who attacked her had also attacked the senate in "Hostage Crisis", and had beaten the crap out of a different senator at most days before.

There had to be a lot of witnesses to the guys attacking her while fleeing on the bike.

She gave up , and did not resist arrest.

She's rich. It helps if you can buy the victim a new better one

She has Jedi on speed dial.

Remember that the next day the police use Bale as bait, and catch the guys.

In some of the important battles, yes you would be correct that the clones and the droids make up the majority. But I would point you to Ryloth and Kashyyyk were we see a very signficant number of the troops involved are natives (Twi'lek, and wookies). What the clones bring to these battles are not simply their infantry numbers, but heavy armored vehicles, like the Juggernauts, AT-OT, AT-TEs, and the SPHA-T cannons.

Ryloth showed the natives to be unreliable, and a surprise to Republic forces. They weren't military, just guys with guns.

Naboo didn't seem to have a military of any kind. At best they had a handful of police officers.

The Wookies are the only non-clone military I recall.

The fact of the matter is the Republic only has the clones to do it's fighting. Planets may not have a fighting force to help the clones, and those planets with a military don't send their troops off planet to help other Republic planets under attack..

The standard equipment seems to be one to three Venators worth of the helicopter gun ship analogs, some V-wings and Y-wings, AT-ET, and the clones to go with them. By all rights this sort of thing should be on every planet as standard logically unless militaries/self defense forces are rare.

The problem is that the Republic really should not have a problem outfitting even 8,000,000 clones. It makes me think the future Emperor was using the war to cover the construction of the Death Stars.

What about the episode where Anakin, OBi-Wan and Ashoka crash on some farmer planet? They say something about the worlds providing forces for the war effort or something, and Obi-Wan even says that if more worlds would do the same, the war would already be over.

I went back and looked at RoTS, on Utapu, Obi-Wan tells Port Administrator Tion Medon that if they have any warriors, now is the time for them to act. Later on, as Obi-Wan is chasing down General Grievous , we see winged creatures with Pau'ans riding on them and fighting with the Clone troopers against the CIS forces. So there are more than just clones fighting here, and a few navy personel on the ships.

The problem is where are these forces during planetary invasions? It seems like the non-clone forces are not Republic military, but only planetary defense forces that stay on their planets.
