You, yes you, have been abducted by an Alien scout ship but instead of probing it is revealed that they have selected you for a slightly more devious purpus. The aliens have decided to annex Earth in fifteen years time and have decided to use you to subvert what meager defenses Earth posses. In return they promise you control of the entire world once they subjugate it. To properly impress you, and like minded indivials you need to help carry out thier plan, of thier capabilities they give to you a selfcontained data storage device which contains a virtual census on thier Empire and then depart you back to Earth before returning home ward. The dilemina posed to you is this. Do you betray your own species or do you try and warn humanity of the fate about to befall it.

Since the last thread of similar nature was derailed over too many unkowns I'll flesh this race out. They aliens themselves are carbon copies of klingons but in body only. They do not posses an overly warrior culture,atleast not one apparent or anything. Thier military technolagy is on par with the Race in the World War series from Harry Turtledove with the additon of a modest FTL capability allowing them 100c via jump drives. These drives have a charge up period and a cool down period straddling thier use. The Annex fleet will be composed of fifty warships with enough troop transports to land five million soldiers and thier support equipment. The Empire itself, which will send a larger fleet should the Annex fleet be defeated, consistes of a dozen highly industerial worlds with a population around fourty billion individuals

I'd say go the patriotic route here, especially since we ought to be able to take on 5 million race level troops. My understanding is the race is pretty comparable with modern level military tech.

how far away is the empire? what's the time frame for reinforcements should the annex fleet fail?

The race military would be roughly on par with a late 20th early 21th century army but it wouldn't be a perfect match. The Race never seemed to develop stealth technolacy IIRC and be it stealth bombers or the F-22 gives Earth an edge. On the flip side Race type fighters can deploy from orbit so they could literaly strike any point on Earth.

The nearest member world is between two hundred to three hundred lightyears away from Earth so we do have some breathing room. As to when a second fleet would be launched that is a known unkown and can't be answered.

Deploy from orbit fighters would be a pain, but not insurmountable, we've got maybe a dozen years to really start cranking out air defenses, which they ought to be vulnerable to, especially with out stealth. If the Soviets can knock down a u-2 in the 60's we can hit fighters falling from orbit today, probably before they get anywhere near their targets.

which brings up the other question, what kind of orbital strike capability are we talking about. Orbital bombardment can really ruin your day.
