BattleStar Pegasus vs. The Entreprize-E...
I know we had the match-up between the NX-01 and the Galactica, but what about this matchup?
Who do you think would win, and would it be a curbstomp?

The Ent-E would slaughter the Pegasus.Praeothmin wrote:I know we had the match-up between the NX-01 and the Galactica, but what about this matchup?

And what about their armor?
How though is it?
The Pegasus carrying 50 MT nukes isn't directly backed up by anything other than that at least one of the Cylon basestars used at least one nuke of such a yeild on (or above) Caprica City.
It is difficult at best to judge the yeilds of the other identified nuke dedonations seen in the series since they take place in the near-vacuum of space. The only other nuke yeild identified to date is also from the mini-series, when Apollo's fake-out using the FTL drive gave the impression that a 50 kt nuke from a Cylon raider had been dedonated, thereby destroying Colonial One, and several other refugee vessels nearby. It would seem that 50 kt is the actual yeild of the Raider's nuclear missles, based on the raiders seeming to accept the apparent destruction of the Colonial vessels.
Thus, 50 kt is the current known standard loadout upper limit, at least where the Cylon raider craft are concerned.
But even granting that, the E-E, unlike the NX-01, has shields, which are theoretically capable of withstanding multiple photon torpedoes (and presumably quantum torpedoes as well) in the tens of megaton range, thus such weaponary is of likely of little threat, and as has been pointed out, the E-E has very good manuvering capabilities compared to a battlestar. The E-E also has demonstrated in ST:Nemesis the ability to fire rapid volley phaser and torpedoes, which gives it the ability to pick off the Viper fighters (ala what the E-D did in "Conudrums"), and barrage the Pegasus through her anti-fighter/missle fire.
The only thing the Pegasus has going for her is to spin up her FTL drives and do a jump to escape the battle as soon as possible, and hope that it is far enough away that the E-E with her incredible sensor abilities over multiple light years, cannot readily spot her.

And note that no one so far has even mentioned the need for the E-E to fall back on and use perhaps one of her greatest single advantages in a fight with the realtively technologically backward battlestar: her transporter. ;-)
No shield, means no protection from just beaming bombs or boarding parties aboard into critical areas of the Pegasus, or even of beaming out critical parts of the battlestar to disable her.
