Loki leads Asgard (MCU), attacks UFP

Post by Mr. Oragahn » Thu May 07, 2015 11:35 pm

Basically, this is MCU, chronologically, during the first Thor movie.
Thor is still cast out and stuck on Earth, and his father is gravely wounded.

Loki, who was about to use one of his secret passages to allow Frost Giants into Asgard, actually gets taken by surprise as his token passage turns unstable. This overloads the entire realm with dark energy and has to be dumped somewhere, to vent it out. Anywhere! In a panic, he aims randomly at any kind of universe that seems good enough.
Not knowing what happened, and with no trace of Frost Giants, he hopes no one will trace this event back to him, even if he doesn't know what the hell went on.

Asgard has been thrown into the Trek universe (even if by some theories, Asgard sits within a pocket universe), with a capacity to connect to the alpha quadrant, circa the time when Romulus has just gotten torched.
A link to the MCU Milky Way remained for a few hours, but it extremely tenuous and ultimately collapsed.

Perhaps this event had a ripple effect...

The whole dimensional disaster that Loki had to deal with also generated a tide of dark energy that splashed all over Asgard. While some wildlife suffered greatly, Asgardians managed to recover quickly. But Odin, already weakened by age and grief, has died because of this.

Loki's initial plan failed, for a better fortune: he seizes more than legitimately the power over Asgard, and unites his people against a common enemy. With the help of Heimdall, he gets to discover the worlds of the alpha quadrant, and some others.

Worst of all, Q seeing this new breed of superhumans having entered the game, and also wanting to push Trek's humanity once step further, comes up with another machiavelous plan. Because he's an epic troll.
Soon enough, he appears to Loki, now king of Asgard, and tells him that the UFP's twisted dark science is responsible of this terrible event, and it won't stop there.
He tells him that the UFP are extremely clever liars, that their utopia hides a dark secret.
The very safety of Asgard is threatened.
Loki, who doesn't give much of a fuck about humans anyway, comes with a fine piece of propaganda that no one on Asgard is ever going to doubt.
Q even tells him that by defeating the UFP and any other troublesome faction in this part of the galaxy, they will be able to be free to study the cause of the phenomenon at rest and reverse it.
Loki, easily, spins this into a theory as to how it allow Asgard to return home and have Thor be saved.

So well, basically, Loki wants to destroy and conquer, and he has several ways to so.
He can be brutal and create mayhem in a way that will create massive amounts of political tension and trigger conflicts, or he can... create conflicts by going in himself and doing his little dirty tricks by ways of lying and bribing, mostly.
If needs be, he's ready to put the Bifrost Bridge to good use. He has the capacity to turn it into the weapon of mass destruction seen at the end of the first Thor movie. Let's say that he can let this device pump out that much energy as long as he wishes. The Bifrost Bridge can handle it.

When he wants more "subtlety" but still stick to military operations, he'll drop troops at specific points. Let's say Asgard has a reserve of 200,000 Einherjars, all trained and ready for war. He can also use the Bifrost Bridge to send out anything that remotely looks like a bomb, assuming there's such a thing locked up in an asgardian warehouse. He could, of course, also acquire them.
Any place in the alpha quadrant can be targeted.
Loki can use his father's sceptre that shoots beams and creates shockwaves. Oh and he can also ride Sleipnir. Well, he can use anything he wants in Asgard, that's it. He also has the possibility to recruit some of the convicts held in the dungeons.
He might consider releasing Lorelei, for example, although he'd need to be subtle about it and try to come up with a plan that Asgardians would swallow without much complaint.

Also, Odin used his last breath to enchant Mjolnir under a new rule. As such, it's been reclaimed from Earth by Heimdall and brought back to Asgard, before the connection to the MCU Milky Way collaped. Odin was so outraged about the assault that in his final minutes, he decided that the one worthy of weilding Mjolnir would be the one who'd would seek revenge, justice and the thirst to eleminate these lowly humans, regardless of the methods, to punish them once for all. He gave Loki the power to be the weilder of Mjolnir. Loki also has the capability to give this weapon to any other Asgardian, but Mjolnir can't be used against Loki and he can lift the authorization anytime he wishes.
Loki, having inherited the knowledge of the position of the Tesseract, also asked Heimdall to pick it up from Norway.
With both Mjolnir and the Tesseract recovered, Loki rests assured that his campaign will succeed. Not foolish, he knows that he must play all the angles, plot before acting.
All of Asgard is behind him. This is war. There's only death for the enemies of Asgard.
The Warriors Three absolutely agree.

Some other considerations.
The dark energy wave has also reconfigured some of the secret passages. Most of them are still hidden in the mountains or say, undersea. They only work one way (out of Asgard). One leads to Earth somewhere in northern Norway, another on Vulcan far from any city. There's also one on Bajor, equally secluded.
Asgardians can go through them on foot if they wish, although it's a bit chaotic. But they easily survive the trip. These paths can't be used to carry anything bigger than a Midgardian self-powered cart (an automobile, like a Prius).

Asgardians have in their possessions five thousands of those flying barges they're seen using to defend their city in Thor 2, all equipped with energy weapons and homing missiles. Of course, they also have the same defenses as seen in this movie. Basically, the only difference being that the Bifrost was never damaged.

On Trek side, Q stays hush about what's going on: the UFP are in the dark about the new enemy.

Can the UFP stop Loki's plans?
Will they find a way into Asgard and stop this conflict, no matter the cost?

The UFP wins, because no matter how much more powerful than humans Asgardians are, the UFP has the advantage in ships and manpower...

They win, and Loki once again becomes prisoner again...

Not sure this can be reduced to ships and manpower only.
And that's not adressing the question of finding Asgard...

OK, a little edit here. Going to increase a wee bit the size of the Asgardian army.
They also have access to their hovercrafts.
Also, there's an addition of a powerful weapon, Mjolnir. See new rules as to why this happens.
I added the capacity for any Asgardian to use the secret passages. There's only a few of them and only work in a specific way.

Remember, all the superior weapons and artifacts seen in Thor and Thor 2 are available to the Asgardians. Only use those for which we have knowledge of their capabilities.
