Tenten the average nin?

Post by Lucky » Mon Jul 30, 2012 8:11 am

Is Tenten a good example of the average ninja in Naruto, or is she an elite ninja?

The fact she was sent to help rescue Gaara means she is considered to be at the very least competent.

jesssshh just kidding

well ten ten is a chunin, which hints at 'average' ninja (and overall, with some major exceptions like naruto, a ninjas rank seems pretty acurate). shes maybe a bit above 'average' ninja, and to take out a wide range of enemies with her weopons shes pretty usesful, a specialist. so shes a useful chunin i gues, but against any jonins she would likely not have much chance, tentens battle with temari (a future chunin vs a future elite jonin) showcases this nicely, and theres doesnt seem any jonins that tenten seems likely to last long against

But chunin and jonin ranks are not suppose to be reached by combat ability alone, but I'm talking about combat ability alone, and most ninja I recall see have about one knife, and go for close combat. Tenten's style seems unique to me.

Tenten seems to be a master of just about every weapon we see in the series, skilled in the use of explosive tags, and I seem to recall her being a reasonably good tactician. There is just a monstrously huge difference between a high end ninja and S-rank is huge normally, and I doubt you would send someone who was considered merely competent after an S-ranked missing nin who just took down an entire ninja village..

Actually few characters can easily counter Tenten's style in Naruto jonin or not. Temari and Gaara would be two of the few. The Chunin exam is as I recall was stated to have abnormally powerful genin taking part, and the matches were fixed, but Temari would have blown away just about anyone there like she did Tenten.

There are very few ninja Temari can't literally blow away in open combat like what Tenten faced during the chunin exam.

I'd actually argue Tenten could make a respectable showing against ninja Anko, Asuma, or Zabuza do to range advantage and jonin and genin seem equally threatened by throw weapons.

If you count filler episodes in the anime then Tenten is shown to fight guys who are pretty high end.
