Agreed, I'd love to see Babylon 5 with some updated visual effects even if there isn't anything that needs a major change.

B5's space battles had some good moments. For one, when they used lots of particles for explosions (instead of stock footage of vacuum gasoline explosions), it looked nice and quite realistic.
The trouble largely being from a good number of effects which don't even stand up to the real time renderings from current video game engines.
If such a work would ever happen, I wouldn't mind if they could enhance the battles and make the stuff more violent, cannons fire faster, bolts travel faster and beams be even more furious, all that with a bit more of the long range stuff.
The recent CGI productions for spinoffs weren't too bad. OK, they did go the nBSG route for some of the explosions, but it really looked nice.
