Starfleet Jedi

After the Silent King realized that they'd been tricked by the C'Tan, he waited until the Old Ones were defeated before leading the Necrons into rebellion against the C'Tan. A successful rebellion. One C'Tan was obliterated, and most were broken into shards, which retain some of the power of the original versions, and some of their personalities as well, but are now the equivalent of say, a Greater Daemon. The Outsider and the Void Dragon are still asleep, but all the others are just fragments now. Not to mention that Necron Overlords now have distinct personalities, with some being ruthless, others merciful, and some just flat fucking insane. The 'crons have become a lot more varied and sympathetic in 5th Edition.

Oh, that's quite a change then. There was room for Necronlords with more personality, but thus far the official line was Necronlords were less emptied than the troops, but it wasn't said that they were as complex as humans. Well, it wasn't the idea I got.
However, I think it cheapens the whole immobile and cold mono-mind which the Necrons irradiated. Now they're a complicated political tissue, with "Houses of X or Y".

Such a modification might have some severe consequences on books written before that latest edition.
It's intriguing that billions of Necrontyr managed to defeat the vast majority of the C'tans.
