Brian Blessed is a hammy actor? I can't really recall him being that way outside of his role of King Vultan of the Hawkmen in the 1980 "Flash Gordon" movie.

I would expect as much from the former as it's a comedy role, and the latter is mostly due to poor direction and writing by George Lucas.
