say the Centuari republic at the height of early their expansion (say around 600 BBY) discover a portal to The unknown regions, settling on some worlds they discover some ruined early republic vessels and mysteriously two of their own future craft a Vorchan class cruiser and a primus and begin reverse engineering.
the Centauri Republic decides to begin making inroads into the new Galaxy both as a conquering power gobbling up minor races in the unknown regions but weary of the slumbering giant of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, they can approach the GR as trade partners and what not but direct war would likely be suicide for a good while.
basically how does the politics of both the SW Galaxy and B5 Galaxy change?
Stipulations: ICS and technical manuals for both sides banned as well as Data books. but fluff stuff and back stories from both EU's are okay as long as they don't contradict the films or tv series for both universes
hows this go?

Re: The Centuari show up in SW history
Well, I think it has been established that Centauri ships have several formidable items they can use in warfare that would be difficult for SW tech to counter, particularly the weapons systems on the Vorchan. Unshielded fighters seem to be rather common in SW, and reliable point defense and long range weapon systems seem to be rather rare. This would play to the advantage of the Centauri, but shields and fighter-borne ftl would be an advantage in favor of the Republic, if they have this tech at that time. Hard for me to tell with certainty what would happen, as I am not familiar with the timeframe (600 BBY) Since they are popping up in space that is somewhat undeveloped, I would expect initial resistance to be weak and uncoordinated. By the time the Republic wakes up to what is happening, they should already have access to some form of hyperdrive and shields because of this.

Re: The Centuari show up in SW history
they probably wont have Vorchan level tech for a few decades remember this is occurring two hundred years after their initial leaving Centauri prime for the first time so in the early days of their expansion. even though the tech and language is Centuari and they are masters at reverse engineering it should take them awhile
still though your right what they have in the area their in should be enough to build a stable resource base. How do you figure the two republics will react to each other?

Re: The Centuari show up in SW history
The Centauri would likely only resort to peaceful interaction if they perceived the republic as weaker then them. Because the SW universe consists of many numerous species, they might not expect an umbrella organization like the Republic (Since the ISA and nonaligned worlds don't exist yet). They would probably snap up any unaffiliated planets/small empires fairly rapidly, but would likely try more diplomatic methods once the Republic turns its military might their way. The end result would likely be a situation much like how they acted in the B5 series-all nice and diplomatic to the Republic, but then screwing over everyone behind their backs. Replace the Narn and Centauri with the Naboo and the Trade Federation and you can pretty much get the picture. (except the Centauri are are generally much more competent then the TF).

The Centuari have been given everything they need to pretty much take over both galaxies. Baring horrible plot induced stupidity the Centuari have tech, tactic, and strategy on there side.Admiral Breetai wrote:say the Centuari republic at the height of early their expansion (say around 600 BBY) discover a portal to The unknown regions, settling on some worlds they discover some ruined early republic vessels and mysteriously two of their own future craft a Vorchan class cruiser and a primus and begin reverse engineering.
