While exploring the 892 system instead of catching an asteroid field and sustaining crippling damage, and therefore intervening with 892-IV or Magna Roma, the SS Beagle is awe struck by brilliant display of volatile energies and discharges out of which emerges a colossal jetsam of untold hundreds of ships and debris many miles in length.
No attempts to answer the Beagle's hails are made, unsurprising as sensors indicate the various hull components are centuries if not millennia old, but detecting faint traces of life amid a habitable section of the mighty wreck Merik and a small party beam over to investigate further.

"They sure liked it warm in here." Merik grimaced tugging at a collar already soggy before raising a hand up to his perspiring brow.
Here being a domed chamber nearly as tall as the Beagle herself ringed with columns of black stone and adorned with the faded relics of illegible script and the corroded gold lump of what once had been avatars of a form of avian.
“Indeed.” The equally slick flight officer Harrison said in agreement as his commercial grade tricorder chirped.” Biosigns.”
“Oh, where?” Niles, self appointed science officer for their tiny ship, inquired turning away from inspecting a pitted column and thus spared the sight of scythe like talons which emerged from the gloom surrounding them all.
The lankish scientist managing a yelp of pain as they closed over his head, heedless of how they cut into his soft, tender flesh, before he was pulled from sight by something big. Something very big. Worse it had friends, several of them revealing themselves on all sides as the remaining two retreated together.
“Watch out captain!” Harrison cried needlessly as his commander just barely avoided a pair of claws similar to what had snared Niles, the burly subordinate drawing his phaser and firing on the creature.
The red beam flaring across the armored chest of the rising, malformed creature momentarily causing it to recoil as its energies were absorbed. Undaunted Harrison, pushing his blubbering commander further away, dialed the weapon to a higher setting causing of the beast’s chest to be hollowed out in a spray of steam and broiled viscera. The triumph of watching its body slump to the floor, more bodily fluids gushing out of his half vaporized torso, was short lived however as hands as rough as an Narriscan’s and as strong as duranium clasped around his arms and waist pulling his limbs to his side and forcing through pain for him to drop his weapon. Leaving Merik, having fallen on the floor, alone surrounded by the creatures as he fumbled for the communicator at his belt, his mind too numbed with fear to find it much less use it, which slowly closed about him heedless to his grating scream which echoed throughout the vast labyrinth of the hulk.

Returning with his party Merik beams up certain “cultural and technological interesting items” into a secured area of the hold and orders the Beagle back to Federation space leaving the wreck to continue to drift towards Magna Roma.
So? What happens next? Victorious Federation? ‘stealer chow? No change? Or despite all sense Pax Romania forever? :)

Just so that everything is clear I mean this SS Beagle from Bread and Circus {TOS} the episode with the Roman world. And I mean these 'stealers
