Can We Quantify The Energy Of WH40K Weapons?

Post by Gandalf » Fri Feb 02, 2007 5:23 pm

I refer to the Bolter, Lasgun, Heavy Bolter, Stubber, Autocannon, Flamer, Shotgun and Plasma gun seen in the novels and games. Is there anything in the fluff and novels that can lead us into anything definete that can help us compare to other universes weapons?

Bolters:

They will blow arms off of unarmored humans and giant chunks out of big space nasties, like Tyranids and demons. Essentially large caliber automatic weapons with a variety of ammuniction, including incendiaires and explosive rounds.

Lasguns:

Although derided as "flashlights" in tabletop, in fluff they often blow arms off of people or make big holes in human flesh. Seems similar to blasters, only more accurate.

Stubbers:

Similar to bolters, but not as good.

Autocannon:

Think of the weapons on the Bradley APC, n a veriety of calibers. An automatic weapon, usually firing AP or HE ammunition at 20mm+ caliber.

Flamer:

Flamethrower, basically.

Shotgun:

Uhhh...shotgun? Possibly improved y use of flechettes or slugs.

Plasma Gun/Cannon:

Fires plasma somehow. Has a tendency to overheat at inopportune times. However, does a lot of damage to both human flesh and armored vehicles.

I'm talking about putting the weapons yield into joules or watts.
