Captain Swap: Replace Janeway with Adama, and vice versa...
What happens to nBSG if Captains William Adama is suddenly replaced by Cathryn Janeway?
Same question for Voyager, what happens if Captain William Adama replaces Janeway on Voyager?
Both of these occur at the beginning of their respective shows, so just before the Cylons return in nBSG, and just before the Maquis pursuit in Voyager...

Janeway the control freak excecuting virtually all of the crew?, Janeway tries to negotiate with the cylons because "starfleet negotiation abilities are so great" and gets the fleet destroyed..
Adama starts by setting up a intercrew boxing match as a getting to know you kinda deal, the crew becomes a lot more chilled, harry does not get victimised, oh and they get home in considerable less time.

How would Adama react to the EMH, since he distrusts technology so much?
Or how about his reaction to the extreme automation of Voyager?

I would say he may be initially uncomfortable about it but as a combat captain he would understand and accept the fact that divergent tech is going to happen in a reality that does not contain cylons who can hack any colonial network.Praeothmin wrote:How would Adama react to the EMH, since he distrusts technology so much?

And no i do not think that cylons could hack voyagers computers.

The Cylons are basically walking computers, and so if they find a way to communicate with Voyager's computers, they should be able to hack it, no?

Re: Captain Swap: Replace Janeway with Adama, and vice versa
Data is also a walking computer and very familiar with starfleet computers and he cannot override command codes, Voyager is basically a flying computer and so are other ships. I can understand why in BSG they had a big advantage against colonial computers and tech as they were essentially colonial and tech that became self-aware but i cannot see any reason why they would have any chance of taking over a computer system like voyagers.Praeothmin wrote:Why not?Kor wrote:And no i do not think that cylons could hack voyagers computers.

Re: Captain Swap: Replace Janeway with Adama, and vice versa
More likely while Bill Adama would not disregard the high tech and automation of Voyager, he would as a matter of principle de-emphasize it's use, thus making for more interesting stories. Unfortunately that would probably mean the poor EMH being kept shut off more often.
The real issue here is that on a battlestar, Adama had lots of crew, and he had some luxury in replacing that crew from recruits drawn from the refugee fleet's population. He has only a crew of 140 or so for a ship 344 meters long.
And if poor Adama had problems with technology and Cylons before, what the hell is he going to do when finds out about the Borg? Oh and even before then, what is his reaction when he discovers there are honest to fraking Gods sapient aliens and civilizations out there? Prime Directive? What's that?

his reaction to aliens is going to be interesting..plus the idea that earth is the first world and there is a eight thousand light year wide space fairing super power
oh and one of its flagship captains its greatest hero ever not only met Apollo one of his gods..but killed the guy
man is going to be dealing with allot..on the other hand the Borg absolutely get exterminated in the events of scoprion..theres no way Adama helps them at all
personally think he's a flat out superior commander to Janeway and his place she gets a bullet to the head or kills the fleet
Picard or kirk may have been a better choice honestly

He wouldn't have a choice since the only medical professional he will end up having is the EMH. Besides the EMH is stuck in sickbay or the holodecks.Praeothmin wrote:How would Adama react to the EMH, since he distrusts technology so much?

Oddly I can see the two of them becoming friend once Adama gets over the fact the EMH is an AI, and Adama might actually see the wisdom of how Star Fleet tends to treat AI.
If want to really mess with Adama they should tell him what Kirk did to the Apollo.
Over all I don't see much changing for the crew of Voyager.

Jaineway on the other hand uses her Star Fleet training to somehow upgrade the junk pile she is now in comand of, and easily find the cylons.

Adama has a heart attack the moment his crew needs to solve a problem through the use of technobabble.
Janeway falls asleep everytime they begin to move the sluggish Galactica around.

thank god thrace isn't there..or Laura
"yeah we came from earth..your backwards culture got abducted by false gods..and kirk killed some of your Olympians"
"no seriously we has logs and possibly videos"
the rage that would follow would be amusing though
Janeway being a former science officer could likely supe up the big G I wonder if she would though..one thing the fleet needs and she can provide is a how to on how to build replicators

That "junk pile" has an FTL drive that most powers in the Trek verse would kill for as it allows long-range, nearly instantaneous jumps from one point to another across dozens of light years. Yeah, the Big G is a bit old and run down, her weapons hopelessly antiquated by Trek standards, but there is that much about her.Lucky wrote:Jaineway on the other hand uses her Star Fleet training to somehow upgrade the junk pile she is now in comand of, and easily find the cylons.

No, he'd go down a similar route as Janeway since he'll know that Species 8472's intent is to wipe out all life in the Milky Way galaxy after they're done destroying the Borg.Admiral Breetai wrote:man is going to be dealing with allot..on the other hand the Borg absolutely get exterminated in the events of scoprion..theres no way Adama helps them at all

Re: Captain Swap: Replace Janeway with Adama, and vice versa
From what I recall that was assumed to be the case-they certainly showed perfect willingness to leave the federation and the galaxy at large well enough alone after Voyager gave the Borg the tools to mess with their ships, and you'd think if they where hell bent on galactic extermination they'd of told her to get bent or just killed her when she discovered there little training program. the game makes them out to be what we never really saw them to be in later episodesMike DiCenso wrote:[

if Adama can convince them that only the borg pose a threat to them they may leave well enough alone
