Jedi vs Space Marine
Who would you rather have as allies? One thousand Jedi Knights and Masters, or a Codex-compliant Space Marine Chapter?

Re: Jedi vs Space Marine
Well, considering that Jedi (at least in the movies) have the same survival skills as Redshirts...
Astartes all the way!
Although to they have to Codex-Compliant? The Space Wolves remained loyal without signing the Codex Astartes.

Refinements:
Jedi. Jedi such that you can believe they were trained by Yoda or Windu. In other words, from any novel NOT written by Karen Traviss.
Space Marine Chapter, fully compliant with the Codex. so basically, the Ultramarines without any of the named characetrs or massive fleet.

This is to keep it to 1000 Jedi vs. 1000 Adeptus Astartes.

If the jedi in the movies are any indication then the space m\arines take it easily, in fact any species with fully automatic weapons will do.GhanjRho wrote:Refinements:

Don't leave Force precognition out of teh scene. knowing that the guy is going to open up with auto-fire 10 seconds before he actually does would be a real help.

It helped them position themselves in the middle of a open area surrounded on all sides with with enemies in elevated positions.
A few miniguns or simular type weapons or even just guud fully auto type deals would have saved the droid army a lot of time and effort to be honest.
The jedi are just lucky they existed in a galaxy far far away.........with only semi auto's.

The Star wars Universe has automatic weapons, like the E-web blaster, and most handheld weapons have auto-fire. obi-wan Kenobi could deflect up to thirty shots per second.

Re: Jedi vs Space Marine
We have seen nothing with a rate of fire that could be considered full auto in regards to contemporary weaponry, even jango's ship chasing through the roid belt was not impressive by modern standards regarding ROF. A reasonable rate of fire for ship board weapons is 2000-3000 rpm and for hand held 500-900 rpm and both of these exceed jangos ship or anything else we have seen.GhanjRho wrote:The Star wars Universe has automatic weapons, like the E-web blaster, and most handheld weapons have auto-fire.
I will not include the weapons we have now that can fire from 30,000 to 1,000,000 rpm.
1. We never see him do that, in fact his movements during the movies directly contradict that ability because if he could move even his arms that fast he would have had no problem against any of the foes he fought.obi-wan Kenobi could deflect up to thirty shots per second.
2. If that ability or even close to it was available to jedi the droids would have been screwed as they fired at about 1 shot per second at best.

I'll concede the Kenobi, but just because we never saw them onscreen doesn't mean they don't exist.

Not existing is one thing but imagine if the jedi were fighting a contemporary army, say a couple of hundred soldiers firing full auto weapons totally surrounding the jedi in elevated positions....GhanjRho wrote:I'll concede the Kenobi, but just because we never saw them onscreen doesn't mean they don't exist.
They very well MAY exist but the fact is that not using them was stupid especially considering that energy weapons in sci-fi seem to rarely require recharging like contemporary full auto weapons that are almost gimped by it.

Space Marines have access to far, far more potent weapons then a boltgun. Plasma guns, melta weapons, autocannons, lascannons and flamers are going to ruin the Jedi's day. And of course, they have a significant number of vehicles at hand as well.

Fully armed Marines? The Jedi lose.
A Primarch vs Luke? Luke.
High end Jedi va Marines with Bolters and chainswords?
Depends.

Re: Jedi vs Space Marine
I find it very hard to believe that Luke could beat a Primarch.
