Galactus possesses cosmic power beyond most forms of measurement (The Power Cosmic). He can levitate; restructure molecules; convert matter into energy and vice-versa; project energy with enormous concussive force; teleport himself, others, and objects across space, dimensions, and time; erect virtually impenetrable fields; restore others from any injury, even total disintegration; and endow or enhance powers within others. Even his heralds, imbued with the smallest fraction of his power, can manipulate matter and energy far beyond human comprehension. Though he generally avoids physical conflict, Galactus can bolster his own strength beyond any known system of measure. Galactus is telepathic, able to scan the thoughts of virtually any known being.
To sustain his immense power, Galactus requires energies derived from a biosphere, a planet able to sustain living beings, though life does not actually have to be present. Though Galactus can extract and absorb this energy himself, he generally employs his immense Elemental Converter to perform the process, as it is far more efficient and avoids the expenditure required of him. Sometimes the planets on which he feeds are left barely habitable; other times he consumes all life and water, leaving it devastated and barren; most often the process reduces the planet to space rubble. When Galactus was newly formed, the energy of a medium-size Earth-like planet sustained him for over a century. Now he needs to feed about once a month; in addition, when preparing for a massive expenditure of energy, he may absorb planets more frequently to amplify his power stores. Conversely, when he does not feed within his allotted time, his energies will dwindle, and he will even begin to physically shrink as they drop dangerously low. His body totally converts the energies he absorbs for his life functions and activities without any waste products.

Though seemingly destroyed on several occasions, Galactus is always restored to full power eventually. In addition, despite being a physical being, Galactus can adopt a manifestation (M-Body) from the Dimension of Manifestations in order to commune with abstract beings, such as Death and Eternity.

(...just in case someone needed it.)

honestly as a longtime comic book fan, i can't imagine this being even worth debate - you may as well ask who would win, God or star wars? galactus could destroy the entire population of the star wars galaxy at a whim.

this came from an old debate back in 06 where wong was giving the empire the win over the Shi'ar...and saying Sidious could force choke Gladiator and superman

and there was a Galactus vs SW thread where it seemed to have a pro Wars win

mind you..allot of it seemed like the problems Space battles has..massive ignorance of comic feats and intense hostility to the ones that ignore science..

I was curious how it would go here..you can have the same thread on a dozen different boards with a dozen different outcomes

if that came off hostile, i apologize. i would love to see more comic book based stuff here. i just can't imagine a scenario in which galactus doesn't absolutely annihilate the star wars galaxy at will.. or star trek for that matter. it would be interesting in the extreme to be proven wrong, though!

..and force choking superman and gladiator!?! give me a break! that is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. for one thing, i would love to hear the reasoning behind sidious being powerful enough to affect superman's breathing in any way, considering no force on earth could choke him physically, and i would HOPE that even failing that, some comic book fan pointed out that SUPES CAN GO FOR MONTHS WITHOUT BREATHING AT ALL. he does so in many cases when he travels in space from earth to other planets on his own steam. now granted i haven't read supes in a while, but unless he's been SEVERELY depowered, he would not give half a rat's ass about being choked unless it was enough to break his spine, and if someone argued that could be done to superman through the force, i would probably burst into tears of disbelief and pass out on the spot. choking gladiator would be unlikely, i would think, but since his powers depend on his faith, and that's been shaken over and over and over to great effect, i guess the argument could be made. but supes! c'mon.

Yeah, pretty much like mojo said...
All the energy thay would actually throw at the big G would do nothing but power him up.
Then, the DS fires, and Galactus feels super energized, like he hasn't felt in a long time, so decides he no longer needs to destroy planets since he has a "food dispencer" available, one that can follow him everywhere... :)

What do you have against Star Wars?

Even I, a warsie, admit that Star Wars could do absolutely nothing to harm a well fed Galactus. He can decide to eat Coruscant and the combined forces of every Star Wars faction would be helpless to stop him. The only way that they could stop him is if they managed to negotiate and strike a deal with him. That is, give him a few planets inhabited only by limited non sentient life and let him eat those. There's a lot of planets in the Star Wars galaxy, so that might work. Or maybe hypermatter would feed, but that's doubtful since Galactus for some reason needs to feed on life. Maybe a scorched Earth evasion policy using a centerpoint station maneuvering of planets might work, but Galactus could simply blow up any Star Wars superweapon at any time if he wants to.

Galactus could stomp over the Star Wars universe. He could also stomp over the Star Trek universe, possibly the Q continuum too.

There is nothing in Star Wars to oppose a nigh omnipotent being let alone herald level beings.

Galactus get annoyed, and eats the Force.

A Herald could likely destroy all the major powers in the SW galaxy. In the Annihilation Arc we see three hold off fleets of ships until the Galactus Gun gets there. Yeah they are toast.

What; because you want to have Star Wars get owned because you're butthurt over it? FYI, Galactus could not only steamroll Star Wars, but he could also steamroll Star Trek, and yes that probably includes the Q.

Ummmm.....

Who mentioned anything about Q? Also, Him defeating the Q is questionable, I think. They are near omnipotent, after all. And there are more than one.
